History, 2005 liberty crd, 156,000 miles, was running great until timing belt broke. Repairs made so far, removed cam housing and head, cleaned and checked for damage to the head (ok), replaced 1 bent exhaust valve and all rockers, replaced head and cam housing, replaced head and cam housing gaskets, torqued to specs. Also replaced thermo and water pump. During tear down I broke small tip off of fuel return block. It has been repaired and appears stronger than before. Installed new timing belt, idler pulleys, tensioner pulley. Cams, crank and injection pump set to specified timing positions according to repair manual. Turned by hand several times by hand before trying to start and all looks good. Engine just won't start. I have tried to make sure that it is primed properly with no air in the lines. Checked glow plugs and they are good. My thoughts are that it has a fuel pressure problem. I tried checking fuel injector 1, by removing it from the housing, secured it with high pressure line so I could see tip of injector. There is no vissible fuel coming from tip of injector while turning engine over with the starter. During tear down, cleaning and repairs, the injectors were removed including the top housing of the injector. When they were reinstalled care was taken to match them back with the correct cylinder. New o rings and brass washers were installed. Also, the top housings were replaced making sure the spring and seats were together. Did it cause a problem by removing the top housings of the injectors? The fuel rail solinoid was removed and then reinstalled following the manual, except for exact torque specs, (could not find a 30mm crows foot). Is the exact torque specs on this soliniod enough to be causing the fuel pressure issue? The manual says that if it removed it cannot be reused? Is this that critical or are they just trying to sale more parts? The fuel rail solinoid is very expensive to replace. One code that I am getting is related to the cam position sensor. Could this be the problem? I don't see how it could have been damaged by the timing belt issue. If it is not communicating with the ECM would this cause a low or no pressure fuel issue?? I am stumped at this point. Anyone have any ideas before I have to tow it to a repair shop. I would like to get it running on my own. I know this is a lot, but may be there is something obvious I am missing.
