I was re-reading the lift kit FAQ as I am waiting for my rear bump stop extensions (about to say forget it and go buy some hockey pucks!) and there was an edit that stated that OME kits don't require the bump stops now. Has anyone not added new bump stops? That seems to be blasphemy from all the reading I've done on here.

My kit is the OME HD front/rear springs and Bilstiein shocks and struts.

OME used to claim that if you used their kit(OME shocks AND springs), you wouldn't need bumpstops. Not sure if that is still true. Most run bumpstops just in case though.

If your springs are not stacking on top of each other on compression or your tires are not rubbing you don't need em.

Don't forget bottoming out the shocks.

Honestly, I've yet to put rear bumpstops in. Not the most worried. I know I won't stack springs, and if I do blow a shock I have a spare set to put in. When I put extended sway bar links in, I might need to add bumpstops though.

how hard can you wheel/hit trails with no bump stops? i assume thats the main back up plan if you wheel hard and compress or bind up. i wont do much "rock crawlin" but i'd like to eventually get out there on the trails and tear it up a little.

One more time,
If you run only the OME setup without "extras" you should be fine according to them.
BUT they do not take into consideration that we add top plates/ clevis/ extra isos etc that changes things some ALONG with different wheels than stock
Part of what the bumpstops do is keep the tire/wheel combo from tearing off the flares when you add larger tires/ more offset on the wheels
I've blown a set of rear OME shocks by over compressing them back 8 years ago or so. So it can happen even though they say it shouldn't
So for me , 4 or 6 hockey pucks is really cheap insurance from either saving your shocks or your flares

As far as how hard can you wheel? Do you know every inch of the trail you are going to be on and how much flex you have at each area that twists your rig up some? Trails change so you may think its going to be an easy day but..........

I'm with Tom on this one, better be safe than sorry. I think I may add an extra hockey puck to my 3 puck set up.

I had read that, too, and thought about not running them but I've ultimately decided to play it safe and get them anyway.
