Yeah, the computer has to learn the new tb and it takes a short break in time. Mine no longer hangs when revved and is a lot if fun at top end.

I managed to squeel my tires pretty well yesterday when a stop light turned green.
Got both tires to turn and managed to get it to drift to the left a little before the ESC could stop the spinning. Needless to say, grinning from ear to ear.

Amazing what you guys are doing to get to that point, I don't have a Hypertech-tuner/ don't have a larger throttle body, YET can turn my tires over any time I want from a stop light
Are yours that much more detuned or what?? Just can't wrap my head around doing all of this extra work and expense :dizzy:

Tom is your 04 DBC or DBW? That would explain the performance off the line difference

As you all know I've had a heck of a time sourcing an intake tube. I thought I found what I needed last Saturday. It was Ideal at 3.125" on one side and 3.2" on the other, 32" long, but cuttable to make it the correct length. After I ordered it, I got an e-mail saying it was out of stock and discontinued. The search was on again. :dizzy:
Well, I think I finally found something that will work for the intake tube. 3.125" by 24" long old school intake for a carbureted engine.
I will have to relocate the IAT sensor because the tube is too soft to hold it. Either that or I will have to add a grommet of some kind.
I may even add a coat of Fiberglas to stiffen it up. We will see. This one was actually in stock!
It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow (Sat), that is if the mailman actually brings it. Last time I was expecting a package via USPS, they just left a note and drove on as I watched from my living room window. On a Saturday of course, so I could not get it till Monday. I was SOOO Pissed! :furious:
First I have to get it, then I can see if it is actually what size it is supposed to be. If it will work, I will let you all know what it is and where I got it.

Grommet and some gasket maker to hold it in place should work.
I hope you notice a difference after all this work you've been doing.

Leave it to the good old USPS to screw it up yet again. I guess 2 day priority mail does not mean anything... Looks like maybe on Monday...

Why did you take it off?

The Air tube arrived today, 2 days late and so much for truth in advertising. 3.125" is actually 3" OD.
Back to square one.

Never installed it. I'm looking into buying a new vehicle now.

How about something like this? I am seeing 3.125 hoses associated with turbo diesel applications.

I have checked them out. At almost $30 a foot (+shipping) it adds up quick, and then it can't bend, so you are looking at another two $25 bends, and couplers ($80+).
But this may be my only route...

I gave up trying to find an intake tube so now I am making my own.
It will be fiberglass. Here is a final test fit of the mold. It took 21 pieces in total to make.
3-1/8" on the TB side and flared to 3-3/8" for the stock air box.

It is pretty darn close, so now I added one more piece to each end for a little play with the glass. The extra I will cut off for installation.
I've rounded off the corners and did most of the filling of holes. Next is to build it up with sandable "building" primer. Then take it back down to 3-1/8", paint it up and the mold will be complete.

^^^ Looks good. Were you able to return the other parts that haven't fit in the past?
Hopefully this intake helps you feel the performance of the new throttle body.

Thanks. I can already feel the gains and the MPG is still better then what I was getting.

I got stuck holding the bag on the last one. It is discontinued and they will not take it back.
At least it was only $16. I will try to E-bay it, to recoup the cost. Unless someone here knows someone who owns a 70's Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac V8. :-)r

If you're willing to make a couple of those tubes I'd imagine they would sell :)

Any more updates for this? Has your computer learned the new throttle body yet and adjusted to nothing or do you still see the power? It would sure as heck to be nice to have that can move...

I have made some progress on my intake tube mold.
Second coat of primer, sanded down. Now it is looking pretty good.
Image

Sprayed a third coat on it and it is now sitting to allow it to get well cured before the final sanding. Then I will be painting it. Once that is done I can make the fiberglass tube.
I'm not planning on selling any of these. Going to make a couple for me to have, one for the rig and one backup.
At that point, depending on how well they come out, I may get rid of the mold.

I too am still seeing better mileage then before. Not much but every little bit helps.
