I'm looking at possibly doing a chip mod on the new KJ to help increase gas mileage and horsepower (if possible to do both). Has anyone done this or aware of how to do this or have any info whatsoever? There is a Superchips place here in Memphis I think but haven't looked to see if they service KJs...any thoughts are appreciated.

From their website, looks like Superchips only has products/services for the GC's 4.7. I don't have any personal experience with the Jet chips, but after reading this thread a while back i decided against one.

well funny you should ask...the dealer had installed them before I had purchased the vehicle (which was today actually) and when I got home and turned them on, they didn't work. Tomorrow i'm going to check the wiring and see if something came lose or whatever and if I can't figure it out i'll go back to the dealer and have them look at it. BUT from my old KJ I had in order to install them you had to pretty much remove all front end parts because you had to work behind the bumper and grill and then even cut part of the bumper away for the mounts to come thru, other then that i don't know about it since the dealer did those too (my previous KJ was a 2005 Rocky Mountain ED but I totalled it sadly and just got this one)....

yea i saw that post; sorry to hear of the wreck but glad you are ok and decided to get another KJ. Interesting that the dealership installed it....i don't know if there were any changes from 05 sport to 06, but only one hole of the fog light bracket lined up with anything on my bumper. i had to cut the fog light brackets up some and welded them to the bumper to make them secure. I also had to make my own wire harness because the kit did not include one. If you run out of ideas of things to check, pm me i'll shoot you a detailed list of what i did to get mine working. Oh and if you do take the bumper cover off, i'd be interested in knowing how the dealership secured the fogs.

sorry again for the thread hijack

You can get B&G Chrysler to reprogram your PCM. Their flash works much better than any of the "chips" that just lie to your computer about what is going on. You can have them program it for performance, or for economy, but not both.

my two cents:

Generally higher HP and better fuel economy do not go hand and hand together. The reason that I say that is: Most of the reprograms or "piggy back" programs just adjust the timing [advanced timing] inside the computer to get more SOTP out of the engine. When you advance the timing, the car now requires more fuel, creating too much heat and sometimes (if you go too high) a higher octane to avoid detonation in the cylinders.

If you can come up with add on parts to add power without effecting timing, your MPG will go up.
