Well I was/am getting air in the fuel line. I've been bleeding the fuel head and priming it before I go to work in the morning and the checking it when I get there, there's air. I've primed it the night before and it holds the prime all night. So I went and sealed the quick connects the best I could and it definitely has it's power back, I am still getting air in the head but not as much. I'm also pretty confident that the injectors or at least one is on it's way out because it's quite a bit noisier than it used to be and it still has a wobble at 1800 or so, no where near as severe though. Time to start looking for a in-tank pump.

You'll love it, although I did all my mods at once (studs, rockers, intake, lift pump etc etc) my engine is so smooth now I can't believe it. Wish the in tank pump was easier to install but once its done you can forget about it.

Has anyone done an injector replacement themselves on their CRD? Looking at them it doesn't look like it should be terribly difficult to get them out and in, but I'm sure there are some special things that need to be done after new ones are put in. I had read on a different post that the new injectors would need to get programmed into the ECU or something like that, anyone have an idea of what that's about or if it something that even has to be done? Is there anything special that need to be done to prime the injectors or is it just prime and bleed the fuel head and go? I'm weighing my options because the shop I go to up here could only find brand new ones and I'm really not excited about $500 a piece when I know I can get reman ones for much less else where. Also if I decide to do this myself (or with the help of a diesel mechanic buddy) does anyone have the torque values for the bolts in the forks that hold the injectors in and more importantly for the fuel line B-nuts?

You can find new replacements online for less than $500

According to the manual, each injector has a "six digit alphanumeric code" on top of it, and all four should match. My guess is that if you get a new one or new set and the code matches what you have, the computer should already be programmed to use them. Presumably the code matches some standardized flow spec for Bosch. At the very least, all four should match one another, but even then I suppose you might get some sort of driveability issue if the flow is too far off from what the ECM is expecting.

Each injector has a code, but all four injectors do not have to have the same code. It is recommended that the ECU be programmed with the codes off each injector as per Keith at GDE.

Good to know! Thanks for the correction. So that means the ECM can control for variations between flow rates on individual injectors? I didn't know it had four slots for putting those codes in.

How do you measure the MAF? I have a vagcom, can I use it?
