I also have stock gears with open diffs, pushing bald 35" MT/R's, and walk right up it everytime. Of course, all my tires are usually on the ground due to flex, but as mentioned, if you have armor and tow points, you will make it either by good spotting or good towing.:D

Interesting thread I found on Colorado 4x4 that may be of some interest.

http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=64450

...and TrailDamage ran it a couple of weeks ago.

Eagle Rock has been done with open diffs by a couple of us...no straps needed, just careful driving.

I don't think I count as a true open diff since I have the factory limited slip but since the factory LSD is about worthless I come close. I made it up Eagle Rock with stock shocks and struts, worthless rock rails (chrome tube things) and I didn't have to be pulled past any of it. Good spotting and patience will get you through this trail.

Do you guys use CB's or 49mhz FRS radios when you hit the trails?

I have a couple of the FRS walky-talkies but cannot locate the portable CB I used to use.

We normally use CBs (just installed mine) but we should be able to relay through FRS radios too. I know I have a couple of FRS and so do a few others. I'll charge mine up the night before and bring it with me for the trip.

I will bring FRS as well, and yes I will have the Winch in the back, although I doubt we will need it for Eagle rock. Sorry I have been out for a while, I have the By-laws ready, and will bring them with me for the meeting. I just have a lot going on with work changes and school.

I have both a CB and a pair of FRS/GMRS radios. The second of the pair I am more than happy to loan out for any runs...should I be there...still not sure.

EDIT: ok I WILL be able to make it so add me to the list. I might be bringing one of my buddies along as well. Regardless I got someone to cover for me on Sunday.

I am taking a friend to DIA for a 1:25pm flight. Sounds like we have yet to settle on a time. Can I suggest 2:00pm MST? We will be meeting in CO Springs at what address?

Unfortunately, if we wait until 2pm to meet, we won't make it to the trail until 4pm at the earliest. With the sun setting around 4:30, that wouldn't leave any time to actually run the trail, let alone have any time for the meeting afterwards. :( We normally meet up at 9am and I think that's the plan for this coming weekend as well.

We can plan to meet at say marty's for the Meeting and BarBQue at a certain time, then we can at least meet and have a good showing to nominate/vote for offices and the By laws in general.

At least come down to C.Springs after the run, to meet up, grill out, and get a look at everyone's rigs.
I'm still bringing some meat for the grill, so far some chicken for myself and a sirloin for fish_eye...anyone else got a request? I'm bringing these from my work, Tony's Meats.

Hey Tokyo/Dave,

Maybe we want to caravan from the Denver area? I am in Lakewood...Phil is in Littleton...You are in South Denver Metro correct? We could meet at your place (7:30 ish?) and caravan from there?

We still don't have a firm time(9:00? 9:30?)/place/directions to meet in the springs we need to tie that up soon.

I am in the Columbine Hills area near Ken Caryl and Pierce and would be glad to caravan down.

Also, does Rock Lizard or any of you have any of the L.O.S.T. Rockies decals for sale? I would like to get one and sign up for membership.

I actually went out to Camping World this weekend and bought a portable Cobra CB!!

You know you are getting old when you go into Best Buy and ask the clerk "where are your CB radios" and they have no idea what you are talking about.

Troyster has the Rockies Decals. As far as mambership, this is the meeting you want to be at! I will be bringing the bylaws with me, and we plan to at least nominate officers pro-temp or nominate and vote for the years' CO LOST Rockies officers. Make your voice heard in this fledgling club... And come to wheel.

I may also have my neighbor come with me in his old Toyota P/U. Pretty big lift on it.

OK, only five more days. I've seen a few slight objections to running the trails down here in the springs, but nothing as far as other options have been proposed. So, any objections to having the first meeting down here, run some of the trails on Old Stage Road, such as Eagle Rock, Saran Wrap, and one or two other trails up that way? We would me at my house between 8 and 9AM, roll out of here right at 9, get to the trail head by 10, wheel until 2, come back to my place, fire up the grills, eat and have our first meeting, then get the heck out of my house by 8 or 9?:D

If no one objects, then we'll start to plan out our next couple of monthly excursions during the meeting. If everyone can, please bring your folding camping chairs or similar, since the womens will more than likely take over the couches and do their girlie chat stuff, so we can hang out in the back yard or in the living room and eat and meet. If you have any extra fold up chairs, please bring them just incase someone doesn't have one.

As for eats, burgers, brats, and steaks sound good? Tater chips, tater salad, macaroni salad, tater wedges, tossed salad, soda, beer, iced tea...anything I'm missing? I'm going grocery shopping Friday or Saturday. Do you guys just want me to pick up everything and you can throw a $5 per adult in a can when you get here, or do we want to try and organize who is bringing what. RespectMyLibertay, are you for sure coming down, and if so, do you want to get ahold of me and work out the meat situation, since you probably get better quality for less price than WallyWorld?

Here's the quite impressive list I have so far of those attending. If there is a question mark, please comfirm. Also, if everyone can list how many coming with you (significant other, # of kids, etc.) so we can be sure to have enough grub.

This weekend will have a pretty good number of groups on the trails, so we will definately turn some heads with a big group of built KJ's showing them up.

Well if we get the number of mouths to feed, I will try to buy as much as we need, brats, burgers, steak. There's a quiet small limit to the amount of money I can front for this, since I'm just a kid working as a dishwasher at Tony's. Donations will be appreciated, obviously :D ...understand that I will be broke without them (think $7 an hour). I'm not trying to harp on this, but I just don't want to be left out in the cold

Just get me the price per pound on burger, brats and sirloin. How thick are the cuts on that sirloin by the way? Just let me know these prices, and I'll get you an order of how much meat and the money for it.

John, I am east in Aurora. That would be way out of the way for Phil.

I think we should meet at Park Meadows Mall since it is near I25 and C/E 470.

Marty...Consider Me Confirmed...and I may have a buddy of mine along for the ride...I would like to do Eagle Rock.

RE: Food...I'll throw in a fiver or ten...

Dave/Phil...We could meet there at Park Meadows...how about in front of the Borders right off the exit on the right (N side of E County Line Road)?
