It was a solo run, but I at least had two spotters. One is a mechanic, the other recently sold his heavily modified JKU.
They were both blown away that I was able to get through everything and how little throttle I had to apply. Highest I ever had to rev it was 3K at one point which is nothing.
The pictures I have are more scenic and won't really show the obstacles, but I'll post them when I can.
My buddy that sold his JKU said the only thing he was worried about was my rear differential and rear sway bar end links. Seems like a rear diff skid may be a good idea.
Remind me to check out your skids so I can convince myself to get some.

Glad i drive a jeep! Last night was driving home and the roads were covered in ice. No traction anywhere. Well needless to say i ended up sideways and there was no saving it, so i just steered into the corn field next to me rather than hit the telephone pole. Popped it in 4x4 and drove right back out. Can't do that in a prius!

I was doing a tire rotation yesterday and went to grease my ball joints and discovered total failure of both boots. :grim: Luckily NAPA stocks these, ran out and bought a pair and replaced them today.

With JBA arms, they're held in with four 5/16 bolts... Just pop the ball joint out of the taper on the knuckle with a hammer, remove bolts, and out it comes.

Nice have a good time, and I have OLB's (offroadledbars.com) here is the link for a pair of them together which comes with a free harness and shipping.

https://www.customwheeloffset.com/offro ... od-or-spot

And if you can get a group together the more pairs you buy the cheaper they get, I think if you buy 6 pairs I think they are only $100 for the pair

Doh! Maybe I should read more carefully..
I bought them used, the po probably had them about a year, then I put about 20k on them. The joints themselves were in good shape, still pretty stiff without any play..just the boots ripped. I think JBA used the same NAPA ball joints as the originals, if they tear again I'll try the MOOG versions.

Not as great as all of the awesome stuff that y'all have been doing to your Jeeps lately, but today I dipped the rims on mine.

looks good. I spray painted the center plastic cover tan. there's way to much black on our jeeps. the only area that still has factory black trim are the door handles and the front windshield plastics. I spray painted the side trim and "air intakes" on the sides of the hood.

I plasti dipped mine as well... im ripping it off when it gets warmer out. the plasti dip keeps tarring. it has a lot of patch marks in it as well. luckily I have 10 coats on so it will be easy to rip off. its such a pain to maintain.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll get sick of it eventually as well, but for now, I like it. I think I did a pretty good, not great, job for it being my first time doing anything like that.

I kinda like the black-on-black (insert joke here...) look to the wheels, & Jeep as a whole. My next small thing to do, will be to remove the pinstripe down the sides...hate the way it looks, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Looks good Cain! I'm thinking of dipping mine when it gets warmer out. I think my stock wheels look a bit too "stock".

if you go off road at all the rims get torn up. going through 1 "puddle" that is 4" deep you'll get a scratch or two on the dipped rims. the thicker the better, but also a PITA when patching and matching up the paint. the plasti dip is better then regular spray paint because it is almost like rubber which creates a physical barrier to the rim versus regular paint.

The main reason I built my rig is to take it out on to the 4x4 beaches. We go down to OBX at least once a year, and i'm hoping to hit up some of the closer beaches this summer. From what I've read, the sand doesn't really affect the plastidip much.

That being said, I would like to head up to Rausch creek sometime. I've never been there, and always wanted to try it out. If the wheels get torn up... oh well, I just want a little bit of change until I can afford a different set of wheels.

By the way, what part of PA are you from?

I hope to be going there soon...actually why don't LOST Jeeps try to do a group run-through? You're not the first person to mention a trip to there. How's Memorial Weekend? haha

I'd be down for a LOST meetup at Rausch Creek sometime.
