I hope to be going there soon...actually why don't LOST Jeeps try to do a group run-through? You're not the first person to mention a trip to there. How's Memorial Weekend? haha

I'd be down for a LOST meetup at Rausch Creek sometime.

By this summer I want to go. Problem is I can't make holiday weekends because of work.

I could probably do a normal weekend for you BMX haha. I'm wondering if I can collaborate with the local Jeep club here so it can be a huge event haha. I know when they go it's for the weekend and they were planning on it for late spring(ish).

Bought some new spark plugs. Trying out the Autolite copper plugs. Will install them this weekend along with a 5 tire rotation.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about mine, luckily it was about 65° here yesterday, so I didn't mind being out there doing it!

The main reason I built my rig is to take it out on to the 4x4 beaches. We go down to OBX at least once a year, and i'm hoping to hit up some of the closer beaches this summer. From what I've read, the sand doesn't really affect the plastidip much.

That being said, I would like to head up to Rausch creek sometime. I've never been there, and always wanted to try it out. If the wheels get torn up... oh well, I just want a little bit of change until I can afford a different set of wheels.

We're hitting OBX, specifically South Nags Head, as well for week in July this summer, can't wait to bring the Jeep out there!

Added a Fortin remote starter. Pretty neat, hit the lock button 3 times and it fires up.

10-coats and the coating keeps tearing? Something doesn't add up here. I've had plastidip on my entire KK for over two years and it has never tore, ripped, or started coming off. I sprayed two light coats, then 4 heavy 'wet' coats. I didn't use the cans though, I bought it by the gallon from dipyourcar.com. I've done this twice now, first with Camo Tan, and the second with Matte Black.

edit: Forgot to mention, I sprayed my wheels two and a half years ago, using the cans I got at Lowes. I used approximately 1-can per wheel. Its still on there, and the only time it has ever 'peeled' has been when I've got rock rash on the trails.

Same here, my dip has finally been chewed away by Rocky mud slurry just recently but I used about a can a tire and it lasted well over 2 years with no rips.

I did some more brainstorming on how to fit these metal JK fenders on the KK. Banking on the fact that they will hopefully line of with body lines...I needed to find a way to reinforce them so I can be cool like to other Wrangler dudes and stand on them. Here's my 15min of brainstorming:

Using 1/4" plate (happen to still have quite a bit laying around...) I want to slide these plates behind this portion of the unibody and then weld nut onto them.

Image

I will also use some sort of tubing/standoff so when tightening the bolts, I don't punch a hole through the fender. I may end up using a thin sheet of metal to brace the back side of the fender as well.

But that still leaves the front to be reinforced. I was thinking of 1/4 plate with weld nut again, and try to slide it in here:

The hardest part is making sure everything lines of so that this is plausible...

NAMoulton: congrats on the gears, man! That's going to rock.

NFodzy: sweet diff cover. I've had my eye on that one because it is such a reasonable price. Let us know if there are any contact issues between the Solid cover and your sway bar (if you are running a sway bar, that is).

USPS and FedEx brought me gifts. I got my slightly used driver's headlamp, which ever so graciously came with bulbs. So now I have new and dry head lamp with fogs! (I miss those Putco Yellows though, amazing but short lived due to this deer.) As I was cleaning that up, FedEx dropped off my Amazon box with my new CB 19 Ultra III radio, heavy duty antenna spring (VERY heavy duty, weighs about a pound and I can't flex it with my bare hands...), and the RG58 cable (need to cut one end off and solder a "O" connector on it for the mount that I got). Mount should get here Tuesday and then going to borrow work's SWR meter and get it all good to go!

Here's where I placed it:

I haven't wired her in yet as I haven't got my antenna mount either. But after reading here: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=72386 (scroll down a bit you'll see lfh's mention of his interference). So I plan on running my 16awg wire from the battery straight from the battery to the radio.

Mine is in the same exact spot. Ran the coaxial cable along the dash and then under the door trim and out the vent behind the passenger tail light. Power went straight to the battery. Would have liked to tap into something that turned off with ignition but ohwell.

My antenna mount will be going where the Trail Rated badge is. It's the flysh mount FireStik makes.

Cool pic, where is this? I can't stand the snow, grew up in it, & still get it every now & then here in NC. I took a couple of cool pics of my KK covered in snow last winter though.
