I have a couple Wrangler tow hooks that I am rigging up to fit to my KK, and planning to bolt into the existing tow hook/trailer hitch threads. Does anyone know what size and grade bolts are correct for these threads/holes?

Metric hardware- size 12 thread pitch 1.75 length 35 mm (12x1.75x35). That is what i used on my trailer hitch. Might need to be longer depending on the thickness of the base on the tow hook(s).

Are you sure the thread pitch is 1.75 and not 1.25? I got 1.75 and can't even get it started in the hole. Just wont catch, and i thought i had it cleaned out enough.

Throw some bp blaster on the threads. Let it soak in.

Get a thread chaser and clean the threads good before you start any bolts up in. NAPA has them, worth the cost of one to make sure the threads are good and clean
Just tell them what size you need and what you are doing and they'll fix ya right up

What I did was spray the threads really well with PB Blaster and ran a 1/2" circular wire brush in there and cleaned them up really good. Next I took a generic grade 8 M12x1.75-35 bolt that I purchased at Lowes for $1.92 and sprayed it with PB Blaster and ran it through each of the 6 holes. Then I made sure the bolts for the hitch went in with no problem and installed the hitch and torqued the bolts to 70 ft. lbs.
