So I'm talking with the President of the NoVA (Northern Virginia) Jeepers Association, and he loves the idea of doing a collaboration run. The Rausch Creek Run they had planned is a little too soon for us to plan with (late Jan/early Feb). With this said though, are there any dates that would work the best for everyone (obviously can't make everyone happy)? I'm thinking in the April/May timeframe. What are you guys thinking?

EDIT:

DATE: May 9th, 2015

WHERE: Rausch Creek

Mandatory Membership - $15
Daily Entrance Fee - $35
http://rc4x4.org/park-information/membership/

MUST HAVE:
- Tow Points, front & rear (you WILL need these at least once). Owners of vehicles without appropriate tow points will be asked to ride in more capable vehicles or to remain behind on difficult/wet trails - each anchor point must be secure. Weather conditions have ranged from dry and dusty to very, very slick. Be prepared!
- Fully inflated matching spare tire.
- Working seat belts.
- Roll Bar (CJs, YJs, TJs, LJs, JKs).

SHOULD HAVE:
- CB radio (If you don't it's a PITA to communicate).
- Tow Strap (you should have it, but others will have it if you don't).
- Skid Plates (YOU are taking a huge risk without these).
- Rock Rails, Boulder Bars, Rock Sliders, etc.
- A Full Tank of Gas.

PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA:
- Flashlight.
- Leather Gloves.
- Tools.
- Cell phone.
-Trash bags (for your garbage and others too – ALWAYS leave a trail cleaner than you found it).
- Basic first aid appropriate for the area you are in and activities you're doing.
- Basic emergency rations (clear bottled water, energy bars, etc.)
- Fire extinguisher (small ones are cheap at HD/Lowes/Wallmart, so why not have one?)
- Change of clothes for everyone in the vehicle (including shoes) and towels / wipes (baby wipes work really well for a LOT of things).
- Snacks and liquids (off-roading is hard work!!!)
- Toilet paper (see "wet wipes" above)
- Recovery gear (Hi-lift, tree-saver, shovel, bow-saw, snatch-block, extra shackle, etc.)

Individuals attending: NAMoulton1, PALiftedKK, Erikg84

Maybes: pwdrskier, libertygirl09, csmith515

Well, I'm hoping to do a weekend camping ordeal haha. Since I'm about 5 hours away...

I'd be down for a trip, Any Saturday or Sunday in April or May would work for me. I'm in York, which is only a little over an hour away. I probably won't be camping, just make a day trip out of it.... we'll see...

Which trails are you planning on running? Depending on how many people come, you could probably run two groups, one doing some easier trails, and one doing the harder trails.

Two groups of easy/hard trails would be nice...because if NoVa Jeepers dudes/dudets come out with their 35s they won't feel limited haha. (surprisingly, with a good spotter a KK on 31s can go nearly anywhere a JK on 35s can haha).

So looking at the calendar how does the goal of Friday May 1st - 3rd sound?

I was just there last weekend. You don't want to do much with out a lift. I was hitting rock like crazy on the green trails and i am all stock. Not sure if our guide was taking us on the easy greens or not though. I may be interested in coming along as well.

No pictures?!

I think most of the interest I've gotten so far is from the lifted KK side of the forum. I would recommend skids/rock rails for anyone interested in not getting torn up haha.

yeah, I definitely don't have skids / rock rails. My rig was built for the beach where hitting your fuel tank on sand won't cause any dents... lol.

I'm sure your rig will still survive considering tduvall7 made it through alive stock haha.

The Mrs and I just got a wedding invite for one of her old friends and she HAS to go...which means I do too...

The more I'm looking at it, the less I'll be able to do a weekend trip out of it too. I'm only 2.5hrs away from it at the Mrs' place though.

Bmx, Gage, other NY/NJers: how far away are from Rausch Creek-is it worth a day trip for you guys?

I think it's about 3-3.5 hours from the Island. I still have to check dates with everything...included the old lady...

If the planets aligned and the titans break out of their prison, would you want to make that trip to Rausch Creek for a day trail ride?

I'm available on Sundays and Thursdays.
I have a Wrangler buddy that may be able to go as well.
It's not a bad drive at all from my place.
I still don't have skids plates, so I'd have to be careful.

Just watched the video.
Man that Wrangler was on the brakes WAY TOO much. I'd hate to drive behind them.
Most of those guys were riding way too tight. That's how you get involved in a stupid accident on the trail.

That's just a green trail right?

Gage, don't feel bad. I haven't installed my skids yet either. Where I am, there's no huge need for it, so I haven't been in a rush to get the nutzerts...
