Hello, ordered Map sensor from O' Reilly, Napa, Mopar Parts. Everything was incorrect. OReilly and Napa were not even close, two wings for two bolts and a tiny senor on end. Looked at picture at NAPA, ordered an Air Charge sensor from Napa, looks like what others are callng MAP??? Got it in and it has "Map Sensor" on box?

Got new Air Charge Sensor now considered MAP and it looks like the far sensor of two on drivers side, or closest to driver. YouTube refers to this a a MAP sensor. It is a plug in sensor that has one hex bolt and looks like a little coated wire in a plastic cage??? Is this the Air Charge or MAP sensor?

The sensor on manifold just in front of this sensor or toward the front of vehicle has one large bolt like body that when removed looks to have a tube with hole and a little brass flat plate at back. This looks more like a pressure sensor to me???

What is what here???

Thanks in advance.

Crown AutoParts shows this also as a "air charge sensor"?

The link that you posted is the map sensor. It is held in place with a small Allen bolt towards the rear of the intake manifold/valve cover.

It is a Bosch built part, and there are several that are similar that appear to be direct replacements. When I ordered a replacement for mine, I ordered the GM part (also Bosch built) and it cost me about $25 from my local dealer and they had it the next day. Been working great for months and looks exactly the same.

Also, if you haven't, you should check out the "Noob guide" stickied at the top of this forum. Lots of good info there and has pictures and info pertaining to the MAP as well.

Thanks, I did look at that. Was looking for what the other sensor is near that? I think I have the answer, the Boost Temp Sensor? It looks like it is on the fuel rail? I have 169,000 miles. My economy dumped and got a code for Map Sensor.

Just replaced it 5 minutes ago. Was wondering at this mileage, what other sensors I should think about replacing, the boost charge temperature sensor?

Thanks,

LN

The MAP sensor is also the intake air temperature sensor.

Yes, there is a fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail.
And a camshaft position sensor in the back.

There was a mistake in the CRD parts fiche that caused the MAP sensor in the manifold to get swapped for the sensor on the side of the air filter box in a lot of parts store databases. Several people here have been bit by this over the years.
You want 68031593AA for the sensor in the top driver's side of the manifold near the firewall.
It is a combination pressure/temp sensor (TMAP).

Took it out for a comprehensive drive. My experience might be 20 years old. Use to be that the computer needed to learn a new sensor and driving habits. Do not know if still applicable these days?

My old map sensor was cleaned at the time of my GDE Eco Tune and Tow Trans tune. It was a solid piece of carbon. Mechanic scratched it all clean, according to him.

Great mileage and thought all was good. mileage went back down about 6 months ago. Finally had O'Rielly plug in and read codes. Brand new Bosch ODBII diagnostic tool. Good sign, I thought.

"Map Sensor" and several others. Might be the GDE tune for others?. One other code was "Fuel Leak"?? No fuel leaking that I can detect?

GDE Trans tune always kicked in at 68 MPH (second overdrive). Emailed GDE from the get go (1.5 years ago), they said it is set to 70 MPH. I thought, nobody is perfect (even them), so didn't give it a another thought. 68 was fine with me.

Today, ran it through the paces. With new TMAP sensor, second overdrive comes in at exactly 70 MPH. This tells me the TMAP probably was not functioning properly from the time of jeep purchase? Anyone have any experience here?

Overall, It think it is idling better and sounds better. P.S. The old map sensor had none of the coating I observed on the new sensor? Mechanic must have scratched all of that off as well. Do not know the importance of that?

Any further comments or thoughts?

Thank you in advance, again.
