Not to my knowledge and no one on here has ever posted of owning a US one since I have been on this forum.
I have seen some posts by a few that spoke of replacing the auto with a straight box from a gas burner Liberty...

A straight box like a six speed would be real sweet indeed!!!!

I think one or two have attempted a manual swap but I believe the threads died out with no conclusion. GDE did say they could retune the ECU for a manual. I would love to swap in a manual but I also don't want to be the first to try it.

I was just doing some quick research on the topic and it seems a company based in AUS has created a Single Mass clutch kit for the NSG370. Also it seems that there was only 1 versions of the NSG370, used in both the 3.7L and 2.8L/2.5L. Id think that with the current adaptor that is on the jeep, we should be able to physically bolt it up to the jeep. You would have to determine what pedel set to use, idk if the V6 uses the same peddles as the 6 speed CRD. After that its getting Keith to come up with a program for it. You would also have to figure out the wiring issues that will pop up. (Reverse lights, speedo pick up, starter interlock, etc) I think its probably doable, but for how much $$$, who knows.

My Sport is already for the swap considering the ECM thinks it has a standard. :SOMBRERO:

Some times when a battery dies, it causes a CEL, and the code P0610? There is no way to erase, you need a new ECM, GDE tweaked it to another number, so it no longer shows a CEL.

I would imagine the clutch, master cylinder and brake pedals would be easy to install using brackets from a gasser. My guess is the bolt holes are there already. I wonder if the trans are the same length so that driveshafts and crossmember will still work.

The 6 speed CRD's are de-tuned since it puts out more torque then the 6 speed can handle so they must reduce the power to make the trans survive. The NSG370 can only handle 270lbs-ft of input torque.Your towing capacity will also be cut in half.

270 is what they are factory rated for, but people push them alot harder than that overseas. Plus I have a truck for towing things with.

Sir Sam made some comments years ago about the swap. I thing this is how it originally started.

Tj is correct, the 6 speed, available in some European crds, is not as strong as 545rfe. So you have a detuned engine (there is no guarantee you won't break the transmission with a gde tuned engine for example, and hard acceleration) and a limited towing capacity. I believe it is easier to just go with a 5 speed manual ax15, or a heavier duty one. The ratios of ax15 are fairly close to nsg370, with ax15 5th being a shy longer than the 6th of nsg370.

What options for a bellhousing adapter are there? Does the newer version of the 2.8 share the same bellhousing bolt pattern?

No need for a bellhousing adpater, just get a KJ NSG370 or KJ NV3550 and bolt up the bellhousing.

NV3550 from an XJ or TJ will also work with the KJ bellhousing.

I have posted part numbers and information on all this before. It's out there in search.

Thanks for the info. A quick google search got some good info.

I would love to have the NV4500 behind the CRD but I don't think it would fit. I am going to measure the one I have on my Land Cruiser to see.

If you search around here you will find pics I have of NV3550 bolted up. NSG370 would look similar.

Do you have a link to your thread? The search engine sucks and I am only seeing this thread and one other similar one.

LOST search engine is not the best in the world but you can use Google with a prefix of like "LOST KJ CRD xxxx". I think what Sam is ref\erring to is a lengthy post regarding Project MJ CRD

I have recently completed a 5-spd swap in my '02 TDI Jetta. And it has cajones now! :SOMBRERO:
This is a well documented procedure on many VW forums. When searching for a transmission it is important to consider the gear ratios. A gasser trans would rev our CRD much higher. Also the Vehicle speed sensor, reverse light and clutch-starter interlock have to be considered. If there were overseas versions made, there are vendors for the TDI who may be able to cobble together kits for swaps as they do for the VW folks. Good luck I will follow this thread with much much interest.

For what it's worth (if anybody still follows this thread), go with the nv3500. I swapped in the nsg last year and it's been a turd ever since. The nsg is known for crap synchros and rough 1-2 shifts, especially below freezing. I had the NV in my wrangler and it was bulletproof, nothing better. You'll also want to secure a set of 3.07 gears if you want to drive on the highway (if you do go the six speed route) because the overdrive ratio just won't work with the stock 3.73's. This also renders your front axle useless. Mine is a test mule, so I'll be swapping in a c200f from a WK when I get a chance and build new control arms to allow articulation. If you do go for the swap, you can find my thread where I outlined most of my screw ups.
