On the way to work this morning, the throttle control light started blinking and the charge system light came on solid.
After I parked, it restarted fine. The throttle control light went out but the charge system light stayed on.

The alternator had been making noise especially when cold and it's dusted with the red dust. That is my cheif suspect.
Am I on the right path?

That was probably it. Napa was the only one in town with one in stock so I replaced the alternator. Clutch was totally shot. Free wheeling and crunchy. The shaft under the clutch cover was discolored like it had gotten really hot. That was probably the smell I smelt when I started up this morning.
Now waiting for the battery to give out... :grim:

Yep, my liberty has an "eccentric" alternator pulley at the moment....had to be wobbling like crazy but the previous owner didn't pay attention to maint at all so not sure why I thought he'd notice something obvious!

You should upgrade the alternator pulley if you plan on keeping it.......or just really keep an eye on it!
