My 2 cents, to go out on any trail with out skids, tow points and rock rails is asking for it.
All of the above is just good common sense and way cheaper than a busted transmission pan or dented door.
Heard so many times over the years, " I'll take it easy" only to see their rig going home on a flat bed.
If you don't have the above you don't go with us, too much of a risk.

Or a dented gas tank...

It's okay, the brackets will break before my tank skid will now haha.

going on a trail without skid plates is risky indeed!!!

all of the trails I have gone on have been somewhat difficult, with narrow trails and boulders on each side to lift up 3 foot from a creek bed. im a fast driver off road, and I have yet to go into a shop to fix any issue related underneath.

"I have yet" ....famous last words before being towed away :ROTFL:
Its just this is being advertised as a LOST event
So make it safe and have everyone understand what they need to be safe and make it back home without major damage
Not trying to put a dampener on it but all "LOST Events" list what is recommended when it comes time for you to run the trails

SOME Examples of past LOST EVENT requirements
MUST HAVE:
- Tow Points, front & rear (you WILL need these at least once). Owners of vehicles without appropriate tow points will be asked to ride in more capable vehicles or to remain behind on difficult/wet trails - each anchor point must be secure. Weather conditions have ranged from dry and dusty to very, very slick. Be prepared!
- Fully inflated matching spare tire.
- Working seat belts.
- Roll Bar (CJs, YJs, TJs, LJs, JKs).

SHOULD HAVE:
- CB radio (If you don't it's a PITA to communicate).
- Tow Strap (you should have it, but others will have it if you don't).
- Skid Plates (YOU are taking a huge risk without these).
- Rock Rails, Boulder Bars, Rock Sliders, etc.
- A Full Tank of Gas.

PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA:
- Flashlight.
- Leather Gloves.
- Tools.
- Cell phone.
-Trash bags (for your garbage and others too – ALWAYS leave a trail cleaner than you found it).
- Basic first aid appropriate for the area you are in and activities you're doing.
- Basic emergency rations (clear bottled water, energy bars, etc.)
- Fire extinguisher (small ones are cheap at HD/Lowes/Wallmart, so why not have one?)
- Change of clothes for everyone in the vehicle (including shoes) and towels / wipes (baby wipes work really well for a LOT of things).
- Snacks and liquids (off-roading is hard work!!!)
- Toilet paper (see "wet wipes" above)
- Recovery gear (Hi-lift, tree-saver, shovel, bow-saw, snatch-block, extra shackle, etc.)

tom, these are all great requirements. and we all understand why those rules are in place. id rather be safe then sorry on any trail. as with any jeep build, a jeep is never lifted and its done. were always improving on what's there.

for me to go on a lost outing, I would need to Just Empty Every Pocket! tow point, currently none, but front diff mount has saved quite a few jeeps from spending the night on the trail. hitch being bought soon with d ring. I have a spare, but completely useless if its a donut. rock sliders (really don't even need for the trails I like to go on) and skid plates... and I think I have the cb radio down pat if you have been following my progress on that. :SOMBRERO: and in my case, a water tank with supply pressure should be required!!! I've had to pull over so many times to clean out the junk in-between the brake pads and roters.

Tom, once I get some more interest and this starts rolling I'll update the first post to include these requirements and when we're doing it. I agree with all of these.

PA, get with ATH for front recovery, his front system is sick and won't break the bank. You can get transmission/transfer case skids for $100 too.

nam, ath and I were planning a front bumper back in January I believe. it would include the winch mount with a slight modification to it, his standard radiator skid plate and shackle mounts, and the hoop and pre-runner. the only thing that is holding me back is funding. as I am starting to notice some spring sag all over the jeep :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

EDIT: and im going to the junk yard in 2 weeks, so ill hunt around for some metal sheets for skid plates.

I love my ATH recovery bar. Not only is it a necessity when beach driving, it's built tough, and looks darn cool too! I just hope I never have to use it!

I have just a simple as my rear recovery point. I just bought the Mopar hitch, but need a day warmer than -10 to put it on... brrr..

The first weekend of May (1-3) won't work for me since I have a stupid wedding I have to dress up to go to.........

So shooting for May 9th for a day trip to Rausch Creek. So far have two nearly for sures: PA and Erik. Bmx and Gage and his +1 Wrangler are yes to the right date.

So because this is a LOST advertised event (and because it just make sense) I'll have to agree with Tom about the required and preferred stuff. Sooo...

- Recovery gear (Hi-lift, tree-saver, shovel, bow-saw, snatch-block, extra shackle, etc.)

I will edit my first post so people reading this for the first time will know what/when/how things are going.

Thanks BMX haha.

I'm going to put up a thread in the local Jeep club about it and see how many Jeeps I can bring. I'm hoping to get guys who have been here before and would be able to lead us around.

201. the "training" was a Christmas gift. ill never pay to off road. I usually will ask the property owner and offer to clean it up if I see anything.

since im no pro at off roading but far from a noob off road, I figured id take a shot at the 201 class. if a stock wrangler could do that class, then a lifted KK should be able to do it with out lifting an A arm. :SOMBRERO:
