@lfhoward

Looks like you swapping a 3.7 for a 3.7? What happened to your old one?

I am betting that before I got the Jeep, the PO either let the oil run low or didn't change it, because it spun a rod bearing at only 86,000 miles. I have always kept good records and performed oil changes every 3-4,000 miles, so it was either some earlier neglect or some really bad luck. I got it at 23,000 miles in 2011 and within a year started noticing a clattering sound at high RPMs. The clattering got louder and more frequent with time, and the rod bearing failed in 2014. This is pretty rare in the forums. The 3.7 in general is reasonably reliable when taken care of properly, and many easily go past 200,000 miles.

Although my engine is basically stock, I installed a cold air intake with a 210 cfm fan intaking air from the front of the radiator and blowing right onto the air filter. And what air the intake doesn't use, the rest is spit into the engine bay keeping the temps slightly more bearable.... by a degree.

Ogh, and the engine bay isn't really that dirty. That's the flash and cameras misinterpretation of color.

John, your engine looks great in blue!

PA, that shiny intake pipe looks pretty cool too.
