On page two I posted some pics building it. I've since added a toolbox and a tray to catch all the crap that falls between the slats..
The slats are really helpful for clamping in the middle of the work surface. 'On the fly' fixtures are easily put together.

You're gonna like GMAW... No slag chippin, very little smoke, and MUCH cleaner.

Another part went out on my Hobart Handler 210 MVP this morning. I've really been pushing this machine past the hobbyist/light fab capabilities it was designed for.

An hour after the 210 went out I had this loaded on a trailer. This is the machine at wanted when I got the 210 but could justify it at the time. 250 amps / 60% duty cycle @ 175 amps should do the job just fine :SOMBRERO:

Quick recap of what's been going on here the last couple months...

Vise mount for portaband with foot pedal=super convenient!
Image

Custom radiator skid for a KA Nitro with RL front bumper. The radiator was left wide open and extremely vulnerable with this setup before, and was easily crunched on a wheeling trip. A few good measurements from the customer in TX and the bumper mount in hand at my shop allowed me to adapt a skid to work in conjunction with his bumper.

Rear KK tube doors in effect:

Custom mid wide stubby bumper built per customer request. Flares and turn signals will be custom to match...

Image

New design on the non winch bumpers!.. This is a lightweight design perfect for those who want a high clearance bumper with super strong recovery points, but don't plan on running a winch (same 1/4" mounts used on the winch bumpers). At the Helm Lite KK bumper:

New design on the ATH Rock Sliders..

And a new Toy, something I've been wanting for a long time. 2015 Access cab TRD Off road 4WD. Still on the fence about doing production armor for Taco's, but I'll at least build some one off's for myself!

He got to break it in a couple weeks ago and we didn't have to tow him off the trail so I'd say product successful! Not that I had any doubts

I'm not doing any flares for him.. Now that I think about it again, I think he might just be leaving them off and doing something to fill the gap for turn sigs.

So with the Tacoma in the picture, do you think you'll slow down on the KK market and start to focus more on Toyota?

Hey ATH, just curious. Any idea what settings you were using to weld up those rock rails?
I burned through 3/16" with ease..... LOL

You burn thru 3/16??.....you using SMAW or GMAW process?

If your using a Hobart, Lincoln, Miller, they have setting charts all over the Internet, as well as "setting apps" for your phone.

Quick idea....
My Hobart 210, I run heat 5, wire feed 32, 100% co2 at 15-18 cfm. I could turn up the wire speed a bit, but i weld slow to give you that "tig look"

I have the Hobart Ironman 230, which has tapped settings on the voltage.. For me it's 6 on the voltage and about 38 on the wire speed using .035 amd 100% co2 (gmaw). That'll handle 3/16"-1/4", but I use that setting on the 3/16" to 1/8" joints. I just focus more on the 3/16 side and dip the puddle into the 1/8 just fast enough to prevent undercut.

Check the manufacturers settings chart on the machine you're using if it's available. Make sure you look at the correct wire diameter amd shielding gas on the chart as that'll play a big role. Like 4x4Kayak said there is a sweet app from Miller with voltage and wire speed. If the machine does t have a chart, use that for a starting point and dial it in from there.
