FYI: The only thing that would get "wear" in an injector is the nozzle tip, and that would be from gasoline or anything unfiltered that got into the tip and was abrasive. Air won't cause issues that I'm aware of, certainly not abrasion and red diesel is just diesel like you suspected.
The major system that would have issues with air is the injection pump, and if you are having air-in-fuel issues, that really should be addressed first between the tank and the injection pump. After that point, it is all a high pressure system and leaks would be obvious.
They took one of the injectors apart, sprinkled some dollar bills over it, and now it passes with flying colors.
They are going to do the same with the other 2 that were not passing.
The leaking nozzle seat one...probably need an exchange
