Darby because its you, i will offer my experience, keep an eye on the rear upper control arm ball joint. I have had a 3" OME spring lift and JBA front arms for years now and am now on my third rear upper control arm balljoint. If you go up to 3" or above the running angle on that balljoint will wreck it pretty quick. This is mainly an off road touring issue, mall crawlers probably won't have a problem. The boots tear open and dirt gets in the joint qnd it can pop right out. Do not buy the JBA rear ball joint extension kit, they fall apart on corrugations - the brackets pieces move around on the diff bolts and eventually enlarge the bracket hole and they start to rattle. The bolts can still be tight they torque against the bottom of the diff threaded hole but the bracket gets loose and starts to move around. I put mine in the garbage, don't know if JBA still sells them but the one I had was junk. It started making clunking noises which I thought were bushes but when checked with a pry bar the bracket was loose even though it looked fine - you can't see the holes have been enlarged until you remove a bolt. Back to my grave.

Thanx...hopefully my total lift will be under 3"...more like a full 2.5". I have had to replace the rear upper control arm ball joint a few years ago. I haven't even taken my CRD offroad like I used to do my 2002 KJ. 175,000 miles...second ball joint. I didn't like the look...too many pieces...of the rear ball joint extention. If things can loosen up...they will is my motto.
Thanx Again

Now I found out that the whole rear control arm AND the Mounting Bracket ( severely cracked) needs to be replaced. I will basically have a completely new KJ CRD underneath...but it is worth it IMO. The wheel spacers solved the TIRE /UBJ issue...no more contact.

Had to order the replacement parts for the rear control arm.

So, nothing ever goes as planned ... lol.

Purchased the Mr Gasket Wheel Spacers for the front and they gave just enuff clearance for the JBA Upper Ball Joint to not sit against the tire. Also did the Lower Ball Joints and added 3 conduit nuts to the clevis for lift.

Now I decided to get some spacers for the back wheel also.

PowerStop shipped the rear brakes instead of the fronts. I measured the fronts and they were still in spec...so I cross hatched them to clean them up, installed new calipers and pads and went with it. I went ahead and installed the new PowerStop shipment on the rear.

Found out the rear "boomerang control arm was shot AND the bracket was almost completely ripped apart. This is where my "clunking" was "wandering the road" symptoms were probably coming from. Replacing all of it and adding the two upper rear spring isolators. Just waiting for the new boomerang.

On the ground today before alignment...Front went from 20.5 to 21" and Rear from 21 to 21.7"...just about what I wanted. (from middle of wheel to bottom edge of fender flair). The best thing about doing this cheap lift...was the other problems discovered in a 9 year old, 175,000 mile CRD. Cost me a bit more...but will definitely be safer on the road.

Now I can't decide on TIRES!!!

DONE. Rides great again. I had to replace the rear cast iron bracket that attaches just in front of the rear diff...was cracked around the mounting whole for the rear Control Arm.

Wow went through a lot for sure there
Never seen one of those mounting brackets break/ crack before.
I have broken two of the bolts off in the diff that holds that bracket on though
Testing new rear setup to replace the tri-link and a little too much romping on it at the wrong time :banghead:
