In the middle of installing JBA 2.5 in lift and replacing front end components. Both ABS sensors were stuck and refused to budge until they broke. Has anyone else had this problem, and what's the best way to replace them?

Did you take out the screw holding them in?

Well I HAD been thinking of ordering a bumper from you. .. :SOMBRERO:

Yes the screws were out and they had soaked all night under a liberal coating of WD40. :furious:

I Noticed the screws were coated in loctite....I wonder whether it was on the sensor too??

The broken parts are still firmly lodged in the hubs. :banghead:

Just wonderful, can you tell what color loctite? If it's blue as I recall acetone and/or lacquer thinner will dissolve it and so will modest heat as in hair dryer; if it's red you may need a torch.

Usally they pull out with a firm tug, but go Mopar with the sensors. The aftermatket ones dont last long. The mopar ones are 3 bucks more.

Dont understand why they would be coated in loctite, all the ones i have changed out where just snuged in.

You sometimes can remove them with a ice pick and fish it out. But depending on how bad they are broken you might have to buy new hubs or mind the abs lights

I had one fail and it could not be removed - luckily I had a set of spare hubs. It's a good idea to lub the hole as rust seems to bind them in eventually.

I'm looking at prices for new bearing /hubs; Moog is $220 per set or Detroit axle is $80 per set both with unknown ABS wiring included. Any recommendations?

Ive heard timken are good because they make the hub larger/stronger, id you look at them side by side with stock its clear the contact area where they bolt down is mich larger

Timken Bearings are the best in the world. Period.

Trust me, I work on a class 1 Railroad, and see more Timkin Bearings on freight cars than anything else.

We wouldn't buy them if they weren't a combination of cheap and lasted forever.

Best bang for your proverbial buck.

I'm going with Moog everything. ..the bearings were about $150 cheaper than the Timken ones. My arms are still aching from getting the ball joints off last night. ..the nuts took full force to turn until they fell off the stud. AND I want to know the name of the idiot who positioned all the brake lines and ABS components on top of the UCA mounting points!

I had to change mine out a while ago due to all the lights in the dash illuminating (esp, abs, traction control). It ended up being the front sensors (dont know which one).

to remove them you have to work them back and forth.side to side a lot to get them loosened up. They have an O ring on them that keeps outside junk outside of the bearing assembly. That being said one of mine broke off when i was trying to get it out so I used a drywall screw into the plastic sensor to give me somewhere to tug.... id put it all the way through the sensor so it has as much bite as possible. You can then use a set of pliers/vise grips to yank what remains of the sensor out of the hole.
