Yep had a rear one do it. Its cast steel

Mine broke in almost the exact same way. Driver side?

Passenger side for me. But went and replaced both front calipers.

I might be wrong but I don't think you want to remove the rubber on the pins... They are there for a reason and that is to keep the dirt out. You don't want to have abrasive grease.

Some remove the rubber at the end of the slide pin (only 1 pin on each side has rubber iirc) to help prevent the slides from seizing and allows them to slide more freely. I've done this to my jeep with no adverse effects.
