Welcome to LOST! It doesn't sound like you've done much in the way of reading on the forum yet. The tire size you listed is much larger than anything a Liberty could run even with the largest lift commercially available. You would need a solid axle conversion to run those at the very least.

Here are some general guidelines to help.

Lift Size------Typical Tire Size
stock------225/75/R16 (29 inch diameter)
2-4 inch----245/75/R16 (30.5 inch diameter)
6 inch-----265/75/R16 (32 inch diameter)

Tips:

Hope this helps. Don't be shy about asking us questions. We are happy to assist. Welcome to LOST! :JEEPIN:

EDIT: fixed the tire size. Thanks, Bmxer!

^^^^^^^^^^^what he said
Your choice of wheels and tires are both way off
Read, read, read, then ask more questions
Best though is 3-3.25 inch lift
7 inch wheels with 4 inches of backspacing
245-75-16 tires

Lauren, you're just a little off. 265/75-16s are 32s. You can run those with 4" of lift, some have done 3.5, but you need to be prepared to trim a little(some even have to trim at 4") At this tire size you'll need to regear to either 4.10s or 4.56s. Some prefer 4.10s, they will generally put you back to stock rpms, but won't make up for the huge increase in weight. 4.56s will put you a little higher than stock, but make up for weight. If you're looking to get some more power out of the KK, live in mountains and/or do a lot of towing, go 4.56s.

245/75-16s are just shy of a 31, they fit with about 2.5+" of lift (some claim they fit stock, but they trim and have new springs that haven't sagged) and you can get away without regearing. Once again, if you tow a lot and/or live in mountains, 4.10s will really help them.

Now if I'm correct, 285/75-16s are a 33" tall tire. You're either going to need 6+". For that you need to make a custom ifs lift, most likely involving a cradle drop and a ton of other mods, or a sfa swap to run more lift. 33s may also work with a little over 4" and a ton of cutting. Don't forget to regear to 4.56s for those, maybe even 4.88s...

Wheels are a whole different battle. 7" works great for most tires you can run on the KK. If you absolutely need 8" wide, 245s are the minimum, 265s are much better. Offset/backspacing changes a lot here too. Too much or too little can cause rub. 7" wide, 4" of backspacing (0 offset) works great.

From what I've found stock height <30" (235/70r16 etc)tires, 2" lift <31 (245/75 R16 etc.) 4" lift 32"s (235/85 r16 or 265/75r16).
I disagree that regearing is required for 32 and below, unless you live in the mountains. I'm still running stock gears and drive about 3K miles even 1.5 months without issue. If you have the money then hearts would be nice. But not required for us low landers.
I'm starting to come of the opinion that our hearing is different than the KJS too. Marlin (from JBA) is actually recommending 4.10s for 32" tires.

Northern Ohio, flat roads, 32s and 3.73s sucked bad !!!!
couldn't maintain speed on highway, had to run overdrive off until 75-80,
hard on transmission, engine etc
if you don't care about either then run it I guess
Also have regeared everything I have built since 1972, always helps no matter what vehicle you are building when going heavier tires/ wheels/ larger etc

I didn't say it wasn't nice to be regeared. But I've been getting by with my 3.73 and 32"s just fine. Mostly highway with about 1 trip to the offroad park a month. I have big plans in the future for the KK, so regearing is just not worth the investment right now. I'm still curious what the best ratio would be for 32"s. I've got a guy down here getting the same mileage as me, maybe 1mpg better on 4.56 and 32". He thinks it's probably geared too low for highway travel.

4.10s and 32s for me are not low enough
Perfect for me at least would be in the neighborhood of 4.30s ( of course not available)
4.10s on some areas I drive are not low enough for the weight I'm dragging along etc.
