Best Brands For Front Brakes (can't solve noise)

Been chasing a squeaking noise at low speeds coming from the front driver side wheel.
May or may not have to replace the rotors and pads.(75K original and never resurfaced)
I haven't easily found recommendations on brands.
What are the go to brands?

I prefer the Autozone Duralast Gold or Duralast Max, both are guaranteed for life so it will be the last set you ever have to pay for. If you wear them out, simply return them to the store and get a new set, no hassle. Already used the warranty on my Dodge SUV on the front pads...
The Golds are OEM specs and the Max are better than OEM specs.... :wink:

Before you get new brakes, take a look at the life of the pads. I replaced mine well before 75k, so that may be the cause, however, if the squeak only happens at low speeds, look into some stuff called Brake Quiet. I'd been chasing that noise for a while too, even took apart the brakes and cleaned them to no avail. After talking to my dad, I cam across Brake Quiet, applied it on both sides and the noise was gone.

Install is easy and weird to me. The liquid is applied to the BACK of the pads. I think it dampens the vibration that causes squeaks. I had to watch a Youtube video to make sure I was doing it right. Either way, the squeak was gone. It's only 6 bucks, so you won't be out a whole lot if it doesn't work

I have EBC green pads and EBC rotors. Mine squeek at low mph. But IDGAF so they just do it

I feel like it may be coming from the piston (think that's what it's called).
For instance, this is how the noise went today.
Drove a few blocks, nothing... hit the brakes a few times, then finally started making noise again.

Take brakes back off,install new hardware and make sure you use silicone brake grease(little goes a long way).Scuff pads with 120g sand paper and scuff rotors(non-directional pattern) with 80 grit.

Then the most important part..............................

Step 1- Do a series of 5 back to back normal to moderately aggressive stops from 40mph to a rolling stop. Do not come to a complete stop, but almost. Do not ride the brakes during the break in process.

Step 2- After the first 5 stops, drive around at normal speeds for approximately 10-15 minutes to cool down the pads. During this time, try to use the brakes as little as possible. If you have to stop, do so moderately and then use the parking brake to hold yourself in place until such a time that you can proceed with the cool down. The object is to keep from imprinting a layer of friction material onto the hot rotor.

Step 3- Repeat Step 1 and 2 again.

Step 4- By this time, the brakes should be safe enough to drive normally and should be left to cool down overnight if possible.

Step 5- After an overnight cool down, repeat Step 1 and 2 again.

After Step 5, drive and use the brakes normally. The stopping performance should continue to improve steadily until it finally levels off.

Tried brake quiet this morning and nothing has changed.
Troy, thank you for responding. I have gone through the process you speak of, but didn't use any sandpaper. Remember, this noise happened before AND after I've done the brakes and happens when I'm not on the brake.
I'm starting to go crazy.
It's a bit out of my comfort level, but I think the next step may be to put the Jeep on 4 jackstands, then put it in 4wd so I can hear the noise when not in the Jeep.
It's also a little odd to me that I can't hear the noise in reverse.

After work I decided to tighten up the brake pad abutment clips.
There is a weird sound if you pry the brake pad with a screwdriver.
I'll test drive it in the morning.

I'm leaning towards the abutment clips possibly being the source of the problem. The sound might be the pads wiggling around causing the noise.
I had forgotten to change out one of them. When I replaced it with a new one, it possibly made it louder.
If you tap on them, they make a similar noise to what I'm hearing.
Using a flat screwdriver, I've tried to make them a little more snug on the pads and it seems to have made the noise a little quieter. I'm now an expert and taking off and putting on brakes.
If anyone has any tips on making the brake pads fit more snug, please fill me in.

Next test drive will be tomorrow morning.
Heading down the shore so I'll update tomorrow night.
I'll be with some friends, so I plan on pinpointing the sound.
Put the trans in neutral and jostled the suspension up and down and was able to get sound. Next, I pushed it from the back and was able to get the sound. Still can't really tell where the sound is coming from.
Took a break, and tried to do the same tactics and was NOT able to get the sound again.
In an act of desperation, I tightened the fender bolts that are located inside the engine bay.

Did a lot of driving yesterday.
The noise has weird characteristics. Sometimes it's not there for a few miles, then I'll hit a bump or something and the noise comes back.
Changed my lug nuts this morning. Gorilla black lug nuts.
She'll be driven some time tomorrow.

I shaken the Jeep at every corner and can't get the noise to activate like that. I would guess sway bar/links or ball joints might make a noise when jounced around.

When pushing on the tire from the front toward the back, I'm getting the noise that I believe I am hearing.
Next time I have a minute I'll check out the sway bar and end links.
Maybe it's the upper or lower control arm?

My tie rod boot (think it's called that) on the driver side is loose. I can spin it freely with little effort by hand. The passenger side boot is tight.
Not sure if this is my problem or not. The boot closest to the middle of the Jeep can just about be pulled off.

Something has to be rubbing somewhere.
The ONLY way to get rid of it is to apply the brake.
Even the SLIGHTEST brake pedal pressure eliminates the noise.
Same noise before and after I replaced the front pads and rotors.
I'm running out of things to check. :banghead:

Have you tried replacing the caliper? I know it's more money but it'd get rid of your annoyance...
