I installed leather heated seats a few months back. I'm certain the wiring is done correctly, I followed the wiring diagram in the factory book exactly. The seats work beautifully and could cook an egg. However, in the process of installing them I pulled a bonehead move and re-pinned the connector under the drivers seat "hot", which resulted in an arc between power and one or both of the driver's seatbelt sensor connectors. No fuse was blown. Sure enough when I started the vehicle I had an airbag code, and the vehicle can not detect the seat belt being plugged in. Here's where it gets weird.

Tried changing the seat belt latch with another one I have, no change. Both latches fail to complete a circuit between the 2 leads when latched, which baffles me because the wiring diagram shows the circuit to be a simple switch. Is this right?

Also, dealers (both morons) told me that the airbag module is showing an active (not stored) code for B+ shorted to airbag, which is not possible. I've triple checked, and no airbag components were replaced--all original airbag parts stayed in the vehicle and no connectors were re-pinned, except for above mentioned brain fart (hey it was late and I was tired). Knowing the fault had to be something else I sent the ACM off to MyAirbags and got it reprogrammed. And wouldn't you know it, the light is still there, no change.

Help? I'm pretty dang handy with wiring but this is some weird voodoo.

Did you actually replace the whole seat? The passenger seat has an occupant sensor - the sensor is VIN programmed the Jeep and if you just swap passenger seats it will set the airbag light since there is a mismatch to the sensor.

Ocm was not replaced. In fact the entire assembly stayed with the vehicle, and appears to be working properly. Dealer did not find any issues with that module, the only fault code was for this short. It just baffles me that the code wasn't reset when the module was reprogrammed. Is it possible it is being stored in a different module and the dealer just didn't clear it in an effort to start screwing me by ordering parts?

Probably fried a chip in the airbag module when it shorted (but without looking up the diagram that's just a guess). I assume there's an output to the ECM, and maybe you can check that wire to see if it's indeed the AB module sending the signal to the ECM, versus something being damaged in the ECM.

I'd source the part myself, and then pay the dealership to remap it if you think it's the AB module. Stealership in Boise wanted $170 to remap one for me... I'd be curious to hear what they want up your way :JEEPIN:
