Need your guys opinion.

I have a jeep that I have decided to rebuild instead of selling it and started to wonder if I possibly have a bad/stuck open injector.

Right at start up it will rev to about 1800 rpm and then idle back down to normal. But once at idle there is a vibration and whiteish smoke out the exhaust. There are no codes

It sounds like you might have a leaky injector.
You could try, while at idle, unplugging a injector to see how that effects vibration or idle speed.
Do each injector one at a time.
You can also do a injector return flow test. This is probably a more conclusive test.
Whichever injector is returning the least fuel is probably also leaking/spraying in the most.

Now that you mentioned it, last night I was unhooking the fuel hard lines to each one and notice injector one didn't leak any out of the line. I'm confused though, wouldn't that throw some sort of code?

My next question, are the injectors crd specific? I will try injectors from my other crd if that will work

I think for it to throw a code the leak would have to be really really bad.

You should be ok swapping injectors from another CRD.

Yeah, just label them so they go back where they came from, because they're supposed to run better in their original position. I think GDE maps them for certain positions if you send them to him.

Check the sensor plug on the back of your thermostat. See if the wire is worn through or if it has possibly worked it's way loose.

This will also cause the high-revs and smoke that you're talking about.

Just an idea.

Also, the #'s on your injectors (IIRC) are coded based on flow and spray pattern by Bosch. Those are used in the programming to set up your ECM so the fuel is distributed properly based on flow amounts from the piezo-electric injectors. (or something really smart like that). Regardless, you can switch them out to test, but long term usage of Injectors that your vehicle isn't programmed for would have undetermined (probably not good) results.

Really? Damnit I never had it plugged in. Lol

I received this jeep torn down and was putting it back together and didn't hook any of the plugs up on that side(2 air box ones and the thermostat)

Yeah geordi shared with me the 8 letters on each injector go in order with the 32 digit number on the timing cover. So if I figure this out to be an injector can I just send the hopefully good one I use to gde and he can program for me to run "right" or can I just use the same number of injector from my other crd

Now I just gotta find my darn timing tools. I think my dog ran off with them cuz I can't find them to put the belt back on and get back to testing
