Just curious about who has had injector failures and what the cause might be.

If use use a fuel additive, which one is your favorite?

My daily crd has never had a failure. I recently had 8 tested at a Bosch shop and one came back as bad. So for me 1 out of 12 has failed.

I don't really know the history of the 8. For my regular crd I use diesel kleen whenever it gets below 20f

I've never had an issue but I am also only at 76000 miles. I had bought a case of Stanadyne for the fuel but when I ran out I just started picking up Diesel Kleen locally.

If I'm on the ball I order Schaeffer Oil | Diesel Treat 2000 Fuel Additive online, winter and regular types.

I read some big article from a guy who set the world MPG record with his cummins diesel and in there Schaeffer was the best lubricity per $, or there about. I think it's what that guy used.

I used Diesel Kleen otherwise, although if I remember correctly, it wasn't that great in the comparisons. Better than nothing I figure.

Oh, I think that cummins guy (or the lab that tested the various additives) showed that Schaeffer actually payed for itself and actually saved money because of the small increase in MPGs (cetane boost I guess?), but it's a very small gain, like .5 mpg or something. Maybe it's BS, IDK...

Haven't had one yet, I add Howes diesel lubricant and conditioner every time I add fuel, this is also an anti gel which I need up here, I use this stuff in my tractors as well as the Duramax.

Two crds and never an injector failure. Had a few injector failures on my last two 06 Cummins. STOPPED running additives and guess what! No more injector failures. I don't put anything in my tank anymore except fuel.

I have used Millers oil to help clean up carbon deposits on mine for 2 or 3 times. Some people that drive diesels here add a couple of litres of gasoline to every fill up. Personally I would be careful how much cleaner you use? The high pressure injector pump relies on the lubrication from the fuel. All cleaners have solvents that can reduce the fuels lubrication.

I use Schaeffer's, Opti-Lube XPD Formula Diesel Fuel Additive, Sea Foam and 2 stroke oil. Depends on where I am, the time of year and what's available. I also run bio-diesel when I can - which is most all the time

no# 1 failed shortly i got my kj , happened on freeway at 2000rpm, i was chasing air in fuel issue at the time, replaced f, filler added howes meaner cleaner at same time (lots of cleaner) so either somthing got stuck in keeping injector open or ball seat control valve was worn out (water in fuel) don't know , fuel shop test them they all automize ok but 2 of them didn't hold press (i think they didn't have a proper test bench) anyhow i did replace 2bad ones ,now on i only use stanadyne fuel conditioner , and I'm looking to install somting like ww diesel did (secondary 2 micron filter ) for now i have mopar brand. o at the time of failure sounded just like bad rocker , only different was high exhaust temp on #1 and smoke .

No injector problems so far,
I add some Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost mixed with 1qt. of Walmart 2 cycle oil on every full tank fill up in both my Jeep CRD and Dodge Cummins.
The 2 cycle oil adds lots of lubricity to the fuel to help protect the fuel pump and the injectors.
Diesel fuel is the only thing that lubricates the fuel pump and injectors in modern diesel engines...
Fuel starvation to a fuel injection pump can destroy it; another good reason in my opinion to have a lift pump and good lubricity diesel fuel!
A friend who drag races diesel trucks told me about the 2 cycle oil trick years ago when I first got my Dodge Cummins....
