That's also possible, and checking is easy, just remove the 4 bolts in the rear differential axle and you should be able to check and get it unstuck easily. I wonder why those would be stuck though, since you live in Florida, where is not as much corrosion and bad weather like in north/mountain.
Or if you don't feel like going under the jeep, try soaking some pb blaster over the u-joint few times and see if things change while you drive. I always cover the ujoints with white grease where the movement is, and after it hardens up, add regular grease over, I do this every 3 months.
Do you have greasable ujoints? That would make it easy to get them unstuck...
Btw, you feel the transmission mount being loose/bad when you accelerate then decelerate, you hear the noise and the movement of the transmission up and down, especially down.
