As for the Dodge Ram TCM. Warp2Diesel has a non crd TCM, stock gas Grand Cherokee I think, that he has "trained" to work in his CRD.
Try a search.

I used to tow our 3200# 17' Casita with our CRD a with a Euro TC and the GDE Full Torque tune.
I have two TCM's an original "pre f37" for normal driving and the "Post F37" TCM that I find works well for towing.
Even with the Euro TC using the pre f37 tcm for towing I have gotten shudder once. (forgot to swap to the F37 before that trip)
The original pre f37 TCM will hold 5th gear down to 54 MPG (around 1600 rpms) and applying just a little pressure on the skinny pedal, not enough to down shift I found out what real shudder is :5SHOTS:

From my experience and what I've read this transmission regardless of tune can not utilize 4th gear enough that is really needed for towing.
It seems to be 5th or 3rd. It's very difficult to keep it in 4th when towing :furious:

The "Tow" tune does a good job making the CRD make use of 4th gear. It holds 4th until 68 or 70 ish, then shifts to 5th. Then it will hold fifth down to 50 unless you make it downshift (WOT will do it) and it will downshift into 4th. I really loved the improved shift points on mine. I live in a super hilly area, and the thing always wanting to be in fifth gear was killing me. Then the only choice for downshifting was third, it would hit 3rd, race the engine, I would let off the pedal, and it would immediately shift back to 5th. All the while shooting EGT's through the roof.

Also gde is supposedly testing a ram tcm with their jeep. They said it accepted their eco tune but they had not installed it in a jeep yet. That was two weeks ago but they have not updated me on the outcome.

Would you kindly post a link or a link or some details about this? I'm interested in this topic.

I don't think A thread exists yet. I sent the 2003 Dodge Ram 5.7L TCM to GDE for them to experiment with. I first mentioned this on page 1 of this thread.

It was just an email I sent them because I wanted to send my Ram TCM in to get flashed. I have followed up a few times and have not heard back from them.

Sorry for the late response on the Ram tcm testing. We were donated a TCM from a 2003 Ram with part number 56029053AE. After flashing the base KJ CRD code in it we were able to have it work as stock. Then we flashed the GDE eco trans tune and it was shifting correctly. The part number mentioned above will work fine on the KJ CRD once tuned. I assume there are many of these in salvage yards and a cheaper alternative to finding a tcm from a KJ CRD.

Glad to hear it worked. I only paid $25 for that TCM......compared to $110 for the used Liberty TCM I sent you for re-programming.

The used 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L TCMs are available and are inexpensive. You can find them through http://www.car-part.com starting at $20.

Other part numbers might also work as long as the TCM visually looks the same as the KJ. We only tested the one version.
