I think he meant Neutral.

10-15 lbs boost under no load is NOT correct.

Noises under acceleration, have you checked on the turbo for play in the shaft? On my 'brand new turbo' that had a VNT problem, the engine would make unhappy knocking type sounds (it sounded like a Powerstroke diesel!) when I was heavy into the throttle while in gear, but the turbo vanes were stuck and not creating boost. BIG clouds of black smoke b/c I was choking the engine with fuel but no air.

Are you getting any smoke? You say this happens when you jump on the throttle, but not when you ease into it. That sounds to me like the turbo is not spooling properly.

This may sound stupid, but have you looked at your engine mounts? What you are hearing could be a sound short too, from something rubbing where it shouldn't. Unfortunately, I have no answers about the flex plate bolts... That is a mystery and a lousy one at that!

Please tell me you found out what was shearing the flex plate bolts! The EXACT same thing just happened to me. I took the engine apart- timing belt, replaced rockers, water pump, thermostat, etc... etc... Didn't run for 3 min with loud knocking and then the flex plate free spooled.

I have the engine out and found all 8 bolts sheared! Really don't want to replace them and then have it happen again. This thing is a PAIN to work on.

Anyone know whats up?

Only thing I can figure is air in the injectors was causing the banging sounds and may have caused the crank to bust the bolts off.
