So something odd is happening to my cherokee... with the transfer case lever in 2hi, the "part time" light in the dash is on... transfer case in 4hi, no lights, transfer case in neutral, "lo4 mode" light is on, and transfer case in 4lo, no lights... its as if the lights are one step out of sequence with the lever... but the actual transfer case appears to be functioning correctly... confirmed by putting case selector in neutral, and letting clutch out in gear...

any thoughts?

Either the switch is failing or the cam that the switch rides on is loose.........just my guess

is there an easy way to tell whether its the switch or the cam without having to tear it all apart? i was gifted with bear paws instead of hands, so anything like that is going to be difficult for me lol

Just working on the odds of the matter.........I'd roll the dice and say the switch is bad. The cam coming loose would be way out in left field.
