Also built this custom bumper a couple weeks ago, it's sort of a mashup of my older no winch bumpers and the Lite bumper with a receiver added, built from 3/16" and 1/4" plate. Thought it turned out pretty darn sweet so I'll put a similar version into production and I axed the Lite bumper.

Parts nested for the cnc shop, I'll have three of these new bumpers available soon:

Custom rack I'm building for a customer per his ideas. It's going to have Rotopax mounts, hi-lift mounts, shovel and axe QF mounts, the hole shebangabang. Hoping to get it wrapped up tomorrow.

That's one bad booty roof rack, Morgan!

Your customer must be local, because I don't think that bad boy is going to ship very easily! I don't see any flanges where it can be disassembled like on the prototype you posted earlier.

What's your painting method? New rack is at home waiting for me. Gotta decide how to coat it. Not afraid of dyi, fyi.

I like to use Rustoleum hammered in either grey or black. I'm still on the fence on whether you need to use primer with it, the instructions say not to prime but I do anyway. The plates have all been gone over with a flap disc, so they are sanded and ready for paint. It will really help give a 'tooth' for the paint to bond if you run some sand paper over the tubing. Take some solvent such as acetone or lacquer thinner and clean all the pieces really well. It is easier to paint the small pieces if you have the means to hang them. With the bigger parts, I always paint the bottoms or insides first, then flip over to paint the side that will be visible after install. It's critical that the paint cures for a couple days before assembly and install.

Also, I start with coats that are only about 50% coverage, then work up to nice wet coats. Not so heavy that it drips, but wet.

Hmmmmm miscalculated 100k lbs of pressure it seems. :banghead:
I destroyed part of my press using it to dimple 3/16" material. The I Beam I have between the jack and punch for the dimple die buckled on the web and deformed the bottom flange. I patched up the buckled web to keep on truckin' for now but you can still see the bent flanges. Had some 1/4" plate burned out to build a proper beam for this 8)

Not finished quite yet
