Was just at DEQ here in Oregon to get emissions tested and get new tags. There machine was saying that EGR was unsupported. So I am wondering if I zip-ty the egr valve under the hood with the appropriate plug connected to it, will this problem go away. Probably should tie the air control valve plugged in some where as well. They suggested to me that Chrysler had a recall to update the EGR portion of the program to address this issue. That is not an option for me with my GDE tune. Anyone else run into this problem?

What does EGR unsupported mean?
Do they know its a diesel?

It may just sense that the plug isn't connected to anything even though there is not a code set. Going to try going through Thursday with stuff plugged in and hanging, will update if it works. They knew it was a diesel, this time....

You could connect a load resistor, the same resistance as the EGR solenoid, to the connector that would normally plug into the ERG valve.
It would be electrically the same as the EGR solenoid and therefore undetectable to any electronic testing.

Tried today but still no pass. I am wondering since the egr valve is not grounded to the motor if this makes it not function? I think I am going to have to register my vehicle outside the DEQ zone so I do not have worry about this in the future.

I think the problem is their test equipment.

The SEGR kits from years ago electrically duplicated the function of the EGR valve and told the ECM that everything was ok, allowing the EGR to be completely disconnected. Inside the SEGR was a load resistor that had a resistance/wattage equal to the solenoid of the EGR.

Post this question over in the CRD section. Others have had issues with inspections and gotten them to pass.

I suspect the tester is looking for some feature that is not supported by the ECM.
Because you have the GDE tune, GDE may be able to offer some assitance.

Is the maf unplugged or not functioning by chance? It's going to check the maf to see if the EGR is effecting the flow rate into the engine.

Everything is plugged in, but still won't pass. Going to try different test station tomorrow.
