Hi.

The ball joint on my 2006 Cherokee KJ is ripped and I was wondering if that could replaced, or am I better of getting new control arms.

Any help would be welcome.

The stock UCA ball joint is non replaceable so a new unit is needed.

The JBA aftermarket arms have replaceable ball joints however, something to look into.

In that case I am better of getting JBA UCA as suggested, as it seems to be well built and ball joint can be replaced.

I think it depends on how you plan to use your KJ.

If yours is lifted and you actually do some off-roading, then yes, the JBA arms are an excellent choice.

For mine, it only has a mild 1 inch lift with stock springs and is used mostly on the highways. So I went with stock replacement upper control arms. But I did find on rockauto.com some upper arms with a greasable ball joint. So hopefully these will hold up better now that I can actually add some grease to them.

If you do not do a lot of off roading and do not have a lot of lift, the MOOG part No. K3198 is an excellent replacement part if you can find one in your area....

I second what Flash said on Rock Auto and grease-able joint.

I went with the Moog UCA's mentioned above. They looked to be identical to the factory arms.

I ended up getting a pair of control arms for $170 AUD.
Would have loved getting the JBA but $700 AUD is just too much.
I will be upgrading to a 40mm lift kit from TJM XGS Gold.
