I finally got around to changing the valve lifter/lash adjusters in my 06 Liberty 3.7 manual trans. I bought it last december with 91,000 mi (152000kms). It had some valve ticking noise and I was worried about finding sludge, but everything looked clean inside the valve covers. I also decided to install the Ford rocker arm clips which I ordered after reading about the dreaded "rocker arm toss" on various forums. It turns out that these clips fit perfectly on the ends of the rocker arms and click right onto the lifter stem. Note that some of the clips I received did not have a slot so I had to modify them using a dremel cutting disk. They would not click onto the lifter ends without the slot. I ordered the Sealed Power (by Fedral Mogul) lifters and they have a ball end on the stem which helped secure the clips. The stock lifters did not have a ball end on the stem. I posted the link to the Ford service bulletin for the rocker arm clips on a previous "lifters" post. Now no more clicking noise ☺.
Now if I could figure out how to post a few pics on this forum... I could show you all what I'm talking about!
