So a couple months ago my high pressure PS hose started leaking. Upon further investigation, I found a pin needle hole in it and every time I turned the wheel, fluid started coming out like crazy.
I typically do repairs on my Jeep on my own, but the hose end looked like it was difficult to get to. Seems like it terminated behind the headlight. I think the repair manual said I had to take the radiator out.
So I decided to take it to a mechanic. A friend said his son manages a shop and said he would give me a good deal. $300 later I got a new hose. OR DID I?
I was doing some random work and my monthly visual inspection of the Jeep and found this. I was told by the shop he was doing to install a replacement Mopar part.

You got a new hose. That is not a splice but a crimp to hold a reducer in the hose in place.
Every single aftermarket PS pressure hose I've installed on a KJ has that crimp in the same location.
Also they put ATF in it and not PS fluid which is what my manual calls for. 2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L
