So last week I was driving around and the bearing race on the right cv failed at the wheel end. I removed all the bearings and chunks and drove home.
At home I remove the cv half shaft leaving the Intermidiate axel in the diff and wheel nut end of the cv in the wheel bearing.
Is it ok to drive like this? I took it for a short trip down the block and everything seems ok.

The inner end of the CV halfshaft seals the front diff lube in, so I wouldn't recommend driving it that way. Around the block, probably no issue though.

The unit/wheel bearings themselves hold together fine without the halfshaft installed. I've driven our KJ in the past - for say a month - with the CVs, front diff, and front driveshaft all removed.
