Working on my 2005 Liberty CRD I've done the following

I've read all posts in this thread(took me a while) and recieved my MPPS V13.02 cable. I installed the software on my Windows 10 machine, I mapped the driver and plugged into the Jeep and run as administrator. I selected Jeep Cherokee then 2.8L CRD Bosch EDC 16CP31 K-Line/CAN. I downloaded the following file.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24410513/1037372316.Bin

I find the following in the bin file 1037380811p

Is this an 808 or 811 file?

Thanks for the input, I am anxious to upload this but want to make sure I am doing this properly.

Did you have any trouble, or did you have to do amything to alter settings, using it on Windows10? I read that it wouldn't work, so I'v been holding off on getting the cable, since my laptop is win10.

I did not have any issues with win10, I ordered this cable specifically off eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330981816005?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I did the following to the letter.

I installed the software on my Windows 10 machine
I mapped the driver per directions
I plugged the cable and computer into the Jeep
Right click on the MPPS software and run as administrator
I selected Jeep Cherokee then 2.8L CRD Bosch EDC 16CP31 K-Line/CAN
Turn the ignition switch to on(don't start)
I downloaded the file.

I copied the stock file on my computer for backup, writing the new files is super easy. Hope this helps.

Perfect! I was worried, but you put me at ease, so now I have an MPPS v13.02 on the way! Once it arrives, I will do what you did, figure out what software I have, and hopefully I'll be able to download or get yeti to help me with a tune, if I don't have any of the previously posted tunes.

A little confused on which file name is YOUR software, but "808" is 80808, "801" is 80811.

Just to update my tinkering; My '05 handles the stage 2 very well (apparently I have an upgraded TC? Who would upgrade the TC and leave the doo doo tune? The exploring has begun. I realized my wheel wells were cut for a bumper this thing previously had.) Stage 4 actually blows some black smoke. My jeep handled it fine, but I honestly didn't notice a power difference. Myth busted, I've officially gone back to stage 2.

All of the EGR deletes have caused overheating on my drive home, directly linked to having my AC on or not. It's been hot as hell in St Louis, and my drive has about 20 minutes of bumper to bumper through stop lights on a bad day (all this last week). From what I understand, no EGR causes some increased heating, the AC condenser causes increased heating, and the sun has been causing increased heating. Just curious if I have something else on its last leg that this finally pushed it too far, or if this is normal for the DIY tunes. It's literally tied to the AC being on or off, I can hit the button and watch the dial start moving.

I also tried that tune for the '05 that JWarren posted. My jeep didn't start. Back to stage 2 no problems. I'm betting the issue is that F37 changed the tune AND hardware.

I track MPG with every tank and have data since September, but this whole week has been "ooo, what does THIS do" so current data isn't helpful. I'll update how it looks for a short tempered driver as soon as it stops being shiny.

Um, no.
No EGR does not cause increased heating.

But all those other things you listed will.
Including the tune.
More fuel = more power = more heat

If you think your engine is running too hot, check your cooling fans and maybe consider replacing your fan clutch.

A few weeks ago I was driving through Atlanta on a hot afternoon in slow moving traffic. Coolant temp got up to about 225F. Turning off the AC off started to bring temp down and once we got moving at a good speed, temp was back down to 195.

I have never had a problem with rising temperatures with the FCV/EGR delete & stage IV tune in stop and go traffic and I was stuck on 285 in Atlanta for a while a couple weeks back. I do have a 11 blade GM mechanical fan along with a Hayden heavy duty fan clutch for a GM V8 truck with towing package installed.
Is your electric fan functioning OK? :?: If it is trying to run hot at idle, I believe something is not working properly????

I picked up my cable and discovered I have the 526 firmware. I currently have the GDE Eco Full Torque tune and had a few questions...

1. If I modify my current bin file to match the maps in Yeti's stage 2 using ECU titanium, will it have any adverse effects on what the GDE tune has in place? Technically, I'll be modifying the GDE tune correct?

2. If I want to revert back to GDE's tune all I have to do is upload my backup?

3. I didn't see any tunes available for 526, is this still the case?

I just started learning so please forgive me if this was covered already. This thread is awesome and completely worth the read. Thanks to all the people involved! :BINGO:

You need to go back to the original tune using the GDE flasher before attempting to upload a custom tune with MPPS.
With GDE flasher you should be able to go back to GDE tune any time, but look thru the whole thread to make sure you're doing it right, someone corrupted an ECU after flashing over a GDE tune, probably due to encryption.

Good info, thank you. Guess I'll have to buy the GDE tuner tool before I proceed....

Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks.

I have it on file and I will gladly send it to you if you want a copy. I will need email address to send it to you, PM or email me.
811 build only.... :!:
Note: Be warned, stage III or IV both requires updated torque converter, either a Hemi or Suncoast to hold the additional higher torques!
Note: The one I have on file does not have EGR/FCV delete DTC's....This tune was before I removed all that crap off my motor and the advent of the Weeks elbow kit....

Thanks to you all who have contributed. I have read, and re-read this thread. I just got my cable, and I am going to attempt this on my win10 machine (after reading through, one more time!). Any suggestions?

Read and download your file, post it here to let these helpful guys verify your file number before flashing anything.

The MPPS software works on my Windows 10 machine, although it sometimes fails to read from the Jeep. Writing always works. Stability was really bad when I was on the Windows 10 release candidate but has gotten much better over the last year. I believe I tell MPPS to run in XP compatibility mode and to run as administrator as well.

ECMTi never would work on Windows 10 for me. I have it running on my Windows 7 server in my basement and remote desktop into it from my laptop. I then save all my bin files to a folder that auto-syncs to Google Drive so i can grab it on my laptop right away and flash it.

Mine is giving me trouble. I am still trying a couple things, but the mpps cannot find the drivers, doing it manually like the instruction says. Also, whether or not I "run as administrator" it never sees the mpps or the jeep plugged in and tells me some long-winded 0x0xx0x0x type message

You have to manually install the drivers via device manager no matter what version of windows you are on from my experience.

mass-hole is correct; I had to manually install the drivers when I got my MPPS cable and software using the device manager. After I did that, everything worked as it was supposed to...
