Have had an intermittent problem over the last 9 months with TPMS computer losing contact with right front tire. Recently replaced front tires and installed new Dorman stems as has been suggested here. The vehicle did not automatically recognize the new ones, but a local shop has the VERY expensive Snap-On scanner with the add-on to communicate with CRD. They were able to read the serial numbers from the stems (wirelessly) and program them into the Jeep. This worked great for about 25 miles when the warning light came on and the display stopped reading the right front. (Still read the left front.) This continued for a couple of days.

Now, on startup, the "Check TPM System" warning is displayed on the EVIC. However, if you hit the scroll button once, it goes to the pressure screen and all 4 tire readings are displayed normally. It seems to stay this way until restart when the sequence repeats.

Any thoughts?

Thanks as always!

Apparently the Chrysler EVIC hates the Dorman sensors.

I installed all 5 brand new ones some time ago, and I have replaced the wiring in my jeep completely. I still get the CHECK TPM SYSTEM alarm and flashing light intermittently, but the system works and when I have a flat/low tire (even the spare) the light stays on and tells me which one it is.

GO figure.

Might not help but I'm willing to speculate a bit.
1. is your EVIC a factory installed 05 model or did you install an older one? I ask because prior to 05 individual tire sensors had to be "trained" every time tires were rotated. Apparently involves a "train" function in the EVIC and a particular sequential use of a magnet at each wheel; magnet does not work on steel wheel so a DRB tool or equivalent has to be used to train each wheel sensor.
2. 05 and later EVICs do not require training at any time although how that plays out with steel wheels I don't know. Best I can say is stoutdog replaced a bad tire sensor with a Dorman and it self trained in like a mile or 2 of driving at over 20mph or so.
3. what I don't know is where the "receiver(s)" for the sensor signal are located (I'd guess really close to each wheel as it's a low power radio type signal if I understand correctly" or where the signal then does in the various KJ computer systems. That said I do wonder if you have a dirty connector in the wiring from the receiver to where ever since you do get a reading if you poke (sort of reboot) the system.

Not much substantive help I know but might point in a direction for thought by others who know more.

Thanks for all the input. The vehicle is a 2005 Ltd which came from the factory with EVIC installed. Maybe Hexus is right, that there is some sort of incompatibility between the Dorman stems and MOPAR.

Hope others with experience can chime in.
