i believe our engines run solely off the tmap sensor correct?

It would appear that way. Lots of CRDs are running without a MAF and doing just fine.

I'm know that it uses the MAP for sure but I have not seen any maps in the tune that suggest it takes into account the IATs for fuel. Maybe yeti knows something I don't.

I believe it will cut boost on IAT's above 40C which will affect fueling if it cuts too much.

Here in FL where summertime temps are 90-105 F, its normal for my IAT to be 130 -150 F.
Havent noticed any performance issues.

I believe the ECU does use IAT to adjust fueling and timing in colder temperatures but cannot confirm this.

I think you are correct and it uses IAT to determine the volume of air entering the motor.
Found this in the FSM:
OPERATION
The intake air temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor (resistance varies inversely with temperature). This means at cold air temperature its resistance is high, so the voltage signal will be high. As intake air temperature increases, sensor resistance decreases and the signal voltage will be low. This allows the sensor to provide an analog voltage signal (0.2-4.8 volts) to the ECM.

When the intake manifold pressure is low sensor voltage output is 0.25-1.8 volts at the ECM. When the intake manifold pressure is high due to turbo boost, sensor voltage output is 2.0-4.7 volts. The sensor receives a 5-volts reference from the ECM. Sensor ground is also provided by the ECM. The ECM uses boost pressure combined with intake air temperature to determine the volume of air entering the engine.

Understanding that they are different systems between gm version and our version could we expect any parts similarities? Seems like that might be useful if we just new the interchangeable gm part#s.

The new GM Colorado diesel uses a Denso system so I doubt there are any interchangeable parts?
We have already discovered that there is a GM MAP sensor that can be used on the Jeep CRD, actually I am running one and have been for about three years now...
The GM MAP sensor is a lot less expensive than the Mopar unit! :D

This is what I have on file for the GM MAP sensor:
BOSCH Part Number: 0 281 002 845
GM Part Number: 55206797
3 bar (11 kPa @ 0.25V , 307 kPa @ 4.75V)

G'day folks, I'm very new to the forum, and I've just read through this particular topic with great interest as our son has a 2007 CRD JK which may have a damaged engine as the crank appears to be seized... we won't know for sure until next week after the mechanic has a chance to diagnose the issue. My question is, should our son need a new motor (or rebuild should the block be damaged ), would the GM RG 2.8 CRD engine block be the same as the JK 2.8 CRD engine block to use in a rebuild ? - Thanking you good folk in advance, Cheers Grant & Kathy (Brisbane)

The 2007 Cherokees have the 3.0 v6 Mercedes engine. Totally different platform. Wouldn't work without major mods

Unless your overseas and then I'm clueless to what you have

Thank you for the very quick response. Our son's Jeep is a JK Wrangler, and we are based in Brisbane Australia... after reading posts in this topic I did some further research and found the 2.8 CRD engine is apparently used in both the Holden Colorado and the JK Wrangler

http://www.revolvy.com/main/index.php?s ... %20engines

We are keen to know if any folk on here have and knowledge and/or experience with fitting a Holden Colorado (long) crd 2.8 engine into a JK wrangler using the wranglers 2.8 crd accessories?

Thanks again for your kind assistance cheers Grant & Kathy

No they wont be the same. They use a different head bolt pattern for sure and I know that the thermostat housing has switched sides. I'm sure there are a bunch of other differences.
