Hello Jeep friends, I really need your help.

I just recently purchased a 2008 Jeep KK/Liberty. I would like to get a lift on it soon, most likely a 2" or 2.5".[/u] I would like bigger tires for off-roading, but I also do a lot of driving for school and general travel, so I don't want to kill my MPG.

I need some help on brands and any other tips, I am new to all this.

I don't want to invest too much yet. I don't think I need to upgrade my entire suspension yet because I don't know how much 4-wheeling I'll actually do. So for now, I think I only need spacers and some larger tires.

Let me know what you guys think. I appreciate all your input!

Do it right once, or do it cheap repeatedly.
Save up some $ and get the OME lift. :2cents:

Thanks!

I just don't want to invest that type of money yet, plus I'd have to pay someone to install it. Like I said, I don't know how much I'll off-road yet. So for now I'd like to stick with something cheaper.

Here we go again, someone thinking since they don't offroad no need for a better suspension.
Your springs and shocks take just as much beating on normal highways as they do off road.
So best advice is do it right once and be done. Better overall ride and handling on and off road , WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than stock ever was .
There isn't anything cheaper that you would be happy with even after 2-3 weeks

Listen to what these guys are saying. I researched for hours before buying my ome/bilstein lift. Everyone who has asked your question that goes with spacers ends up regretting it and buying the ome lift anyway. I can't tell you how many threads I've read where the op asked the very same thing and ignored every bit of advice and went with a daystar anyway. Inevitably they all come back and say how Tom and everyone else was right... These guys know what they are talking about, just be open to advice. You are only gonna spend a few hundred more than a spacer lift anyway. The difference in ride quality on road is well worth it believe me.

I'll also add that since you will have to pay someone to do the install... Why pay them 2 times? Once for the lesser cost lift now, and again when you replace it?
In the long run it will cost you more $.

The work involved in doing a spacer vs suspension would be minimal and the ride on new suspension in so much better

So I was thinking about getting the daystar 2" spacer for about $140. Since it's not a good idea, what do you suggest I do for a suspension lift? Struts and Springs?

Buy a complete OME kit from http://www.jeepinbyal.com
927 front springs and 731 rears along with shocks ( no struts on a KJ or KK )
Or buy springs from JBA and source shocks ( Bilstiens) from shockwarehouse stock front shocks and rear shocks for a 99-03 Dodge Dakota 4X4

then after you get all of that figured out we'll tell you the rest

This^

It'll give you 2.5" of lift, you can always add for more (up to 3.5"). Honestly it used to only be a few hundred more than the daystar when you factor in the cost of shocks. If I remember right, the daystar pays for 1 set of springs, and you just have to lay out for the 2nd. Shocks need to be added for both lifts, so that doesn't really change.

***Cough*** stay the hell away from spacers. Unless your KK has leaf springs on all 4 corners... :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:
