Webasto heater install

well i don't see a point running webasto same time with engine running , but i did it short time in the morning after engine stared, again if you do it don't worry it wont damage webasto circulation pump, saying this is because my big truck with DDEC IV 60 series has this set up (simply mounted on ps frame rail ) same hook up i described before . upper hose from webasto goes into lower radiator hose elbow ,and return from back of cylinder head (RETURN) goes back into webasto circulation pump. example , you set up your timer to start webasto heater in 4; 00 am and ends at 5;00 am that gives your engine plenty time to heat up , so yes you can start engine first if you wish , and switch off webasto shortly after. also after you shut off webasto ,during normal engine operation coolant will flow thru it with out any issue , so in other wards summer time this unit is just like a flow thru dummy heater unit,

Need Seth to make a kit for installing the Webasto.

I was told the Airtex was not the best choice for a lift pump - After I bought mine and had it installed. I think a Chrysler OEM part was recommended

Do you know what's wrong with the airtex ?

I have been warned of Airtex not lasting or performing as well as a lot of others.

Will see how long it last I got mine already installed .....

The only thing I notice , it's really quiet , I wasn't sure if it was running at first.

And it's really neat to crack the bleeder open on the fuel filter head and see a continuous flow coming out :-)r

hey PZKW108, how did you make out with the coolant hoses , did you end up with FIAT_LANCIA diagram with one way check valve ? or the way i was suggesting. anyhow I'm sure you can make it work , and just regarding in- tank fuel pump i have OEM DODGE pump RL 143160AB but its very expensive over 300 us$ i don't know if any better then AIRTEX probably not. and it is 14 psi pressure at FF head .

With a in tank lift pump I believe a fuel pressure gauge would be a good idea.

I plan to use this one on my 6.5 diesels. What do you think for our jeep?

Is there an 1/8" NPT to tap for a sending unit?

I used the Jeep Cherokee 2,8l CRD installation guide by Webasto and there's a check valve.

and for the lift pump the Airtex is 8 or 9 psi

thank you for info . i have complete WEBASTO kit with timer that i got for 100 $ used 2007 unit low hr . one day ill try install it , i think il go with simpler install ( FLOW TRUE COOLANT ALL THE TIME) and marine fuel tank system fuel supply LOL just like fisherman have in there small boat ,, small metal fuel tank that i like to see in my liberty trunk compartment, i like your professional and clean install, but for folks with rougher looking units (used in rough service ) they can go to not so clean install , anyhow you did perfect install as per WEBASTO instructions , cheers!

Our Webasto unit arrives later this week! We could put a kit together if there is interest.

Here is the current prototype. This custom battery tray mounts the Thermo Top C underneath the battery, and allows for the use of an AGM 65 series battery (950 CCA).

Not sure on the OEM unit but I dont think so. I know my racor has an extra port but it may be a 1/4" npt, i'd have to look.

Just got back from powdercoat. It's coming together! The Webasto heater itself is mounted to the tray underneath the fuse box, and amazingly doesn't touch anything around it. These will be available to order on our web site within the next 5-7 days.

Yes you can operate the Webasto heaters with the engine running, they are commonly used in Europe as auxiliary heaters in the Diesel cars there. You can also use it as a parking heater, hooked in conjunction with your blower, both the engine and engine get warm. they take less then 30 min to heat the engine to 180 F or so. Webasto also offers a remote control that operates from your smart phone so you can remotely start your heater from afar
