2006 CRD 230k miles 2nd alternator clutch

failed yesterday , lumped home on battery by turning everything off , lucky it was daylight

replaced today with a rebuilt Alt from O'Reilly
when I got the old off , could tell it was bad

That's probably the longest I've ever heard an alternator lasting. I pulled mine at 161k only because the lights flickered with changes in rpm and it was easier for me to replace the alternator then replace the clutch pulley. I figured the alternator also needed brushes but bearings were still good.

When my lights started flickering I repaired my alternator by replacing the voltage regulator and brushes. Cost less than $50.
