Info: 2008 KK, 3.7L, completely stock, fresh air filter, 104,000 miles

I have noticed since the day I bought my 08 KK when I am in reverse, if I back up an incline, my Jeep wobbles front to back. It's a wobbly/shaking feeling. However, once I gain momentum, it goes away. Recently I've been feeling the same thing when I'm driving between 30-40 mph, but usually when I am accelerating between 30-35-40 mph. When I back up it is very noticeable, but when driving at higher speeds it is less noticeable, however, it still worries me. Note, I don't feel the wobble side-to-side, it is front to back, almost as if it is hesitating then gaining speed, but in a rapid and repeated manner, equaling a wobble.

I have also noticed a lack of power. My dad's 05 Grand Cherokee with the 3.7 is very touchy and responsive when I barely touch the gas. It is much more satisfying to drive and accelerate. Why might my 3.7 gas pedal not be as "touchy"/responsive?

If anyone has experienced this or has any advice, I would really appreciate it. I am worried it's a transmission problem.

Seems like its an engine "issue" luckily and nothing else. No worries, it's an easy fix.

First check the air filter that its not trashed. Second, those spark plugs need to be replaced. Every 20-30k miles is just about the avg time to replace them. Run a heavy duty cleaner through the fuel tank. Do 2 seperate passes of lucas injector cleaner and a bottle of sea foam. Those two seem to do a decent job in cleaning the tank and injectors pretty well.

Up hill reversing is a pain in these Jeeps. It feels like a shudder right? That's normal, almost every 42rle KJ/KK does it. The reverse gear is too tall and the Jeep doesn't have enough power. You shouldn't be feeling it in drive though.

As the WK feeling different, if I'm correct it should be drive by cable. That means the pedal is connected to a cable that opens the valve in the throttle body. Our KKs are drive by wire, which means that the computer reads how far the pedal is depressed and how quickly to determine how much to open the valve in the throttle body.

My Liberty does this on inclines in reverse also. It was much more noticeable after I put on bigger and more aggressive tires. And, really, it depends on how steep the incline is for me. Mild inclines are no problem.

So... I just don't back up on relatively steep inclines anymore :ROTFL: . It definitely feels like something is 'wrong', though, when it does occur.

When I looked into it, it seemed very similar to how axle wrap is described... although that is supposed to mostly be a leaf sprung vehicle problem. On pirate4x4 alot of guys make axle wrap preventive brackets to weld to their axle housing. I have considered trying this but in the end it isn't enough of an issue for me (I rarely if ever back up an incline).

As for the sluggish acceleration... we all can relate and feel your pain. You could try a ported throttle body. I never have (I'm skeptical)... but I know others feel it really helped.

Something super simple that noticeably changed this a little for me was simply hitting the 'traction control off' button, haha. Give it a try - you won't hurt anything! My last vehicle was a 2002 Mazda Tribute ES and going from that to the 2012 Jeep liberty was quite the change. In a lot of ways the newer vehicles are nicer but in some ways the new technology can take away the fun from driving. :2cents:
