I got a chance to check the main hoses and the one going to the turbo was replaced when the new turbo was put on last year. The hose going from the intercooler to the engine doesn't look like it's ever been replaced, but I could not see any cracks, holes, or soft spots in it. It seems that those two hoses are the primary culprits from the research I've done, but are there any of the many smaller hoses I should closely check as well that would cause low end lag and black smoke?
I also pulled the hoses off of the boost solenoid while the engine was idling and there was some vacuum, but it seemed fairly weak. How much suction should there be at idle?
Thanks in advance.
