So my AC clutch has been shot for about a year and now the pulley is FUBAR. The only repair solution that I have seen so far is to replace the entire compressor assembly. I found a clutch and pulley repair kit on eBay that says it works with my 08 sport. Has anyone else done this?

I don't think I've seen anyone try that before, either here or on JF. Care to be our guinea pig?

Already purchased it. Should have an update by next weekend!

A KA owner did this. Unfortunately when he was taking the old coil clutch off he fubared the compressor shaft seal. Ended up buying a new complete compressor and having the system recharged.

Good info to know! I'll try not to let the 200lb gorilla out when I'm pulling the coil off haha

I have not done this in many years, well over 20 years. But I have done a clutch replacement on a couple of compressors . It worked for me at the time, but I don't remember much about it and what it was on. It do remember I borrowed a puller from a friend to get it off.

Need a puller to make it much easier. Also has to be shimmed correctly or it will not work properly.

I got it done over the weekend. Definitely need a 3 jaw puller (rent at your local auto parts store) to get the pulley and coil off. Make sure to remove the circlip first! Oh, and good luck removing the bolt holding the clutch plate on... It's held in with lock tight. I sheared mine in half and didn't have the time or patience to drill it out. That will be a job for next spring. You can still replace the coil, pulley and bearing even if you don't put the clutch plate on.

My pulley was completely shot to the point where the outer ring broke off the inner section when I was pulling it off so you might want to find a repair kit that includes the pulley. Cheers
