already had new rockers, but NOT studs?
Don't question it, we're living in a different world here. I'm guessing 90% of owners and even more Indy shops know nothing about LOST. When things go wrong most get fixed by the book using the parts that are officially available for the vehicle. Remember, there are no studs available for this vehicle. Check the ARP web site if you don't believe me.
No disrespect to the guys that have pioneered this upgrade but any reputable shop would quite rightly regard using studs designed for a completely different application and using an installation process coming from a bunch of amateurs on an internet forum a hack especially when the correct OE parts and FSM installation instructions are readily available.
Having worked for some different dealerships over the course of many years, I fully understand your statement!
But I fully believe most of the leading contributors on this forum are highly experienced mechanics and / or engineers with many, many years of vehicle repair under our belts and do not make reckless or uninformed choices based on a "bunch of amateurs" as you put it!
Upgrading and /or improvements using non OEM or FSM specified parts or procedures to improve the reliability and longevity of this engine or vehicle are highly calculated decisions based on sound judgement and many years of experience!
Upgrades such as torque converters, in-tank fuel pumps, EGR/EGR cooler & FCV delete, ECM re-flash, boost hoses, V6 air box, all involve non-OEM parts but certainly are great improvements that add to the reliability and longevity of the engine! Along with all the non-OEM aftermarket parts that are available that many have installed.
