Just crossed 80,000 miles earlier in the day on my '08, and a curb jumped out and bit the wheel. And then the Jeep took a bite out of a telephone pole.

Stupid accident, but fortunately no injuries and me and my 2-year-old daughter just walked right out. She was upset, but probably just because of the noise and airbags.

I haven't heard from the insurance company yet, should know more by Monday, but the police on-scene were guessing it's totaled. Anyone want to make a prediction? I'm thinking between the air bags needed to be replaced and the front axle probably shot, it's not worth fixing. The one thing keeping me guessing, though, is that the engine compartment looks unharmed mostly.

I'd rather walk away from it, I think it will always have issues if we try to fix it. The passenger doors were pinned shut because of the impact, even though there's not a whole lot of damage to the doors themselves. Things will always be a little out of alignment. Might be best if they call it dead and I move on to something else.

Oh no!

I'm glad everyone walked away. Looks like your Jeep did its job and took one for the team. I would say it's totaled. If the rear doors are sticking closed then there is unibody damage. That plus airbags deployed and that it's an 8 year old vehicle... chances are it will get towed away to a junkyard where the rest of us can pillage it for parts.

Keep us in the loop about what you get to replace the KK. Still going to stick with a Jeep? Mopar? Or something else entirely??? In any event I wish you all the best in getting as much as you can from your insurance company to apply to the new ride!

Not sure about another Jeep but maybe still in the Mopar family. Possibly Durango. Not sure yet, wasn't planning on anything new for a while so I need to spend some time doing my homework and figuring out what to get.

Frame damage it's toast, the deployed airbags will not total it.

Glad to hear everyone is alright. That's all that matters. As for the KK, I'd say she's totaled. The doors were stuck shut without visible damage which means the unibody is tweaked. Then factor in the air bags blowing (which in many vehicles, especially as they get older, means it's totaled), it's most likely going to cost what she's worth to fix.

I suggest you start doing vehicle hw now. The JKUs are really nice(if you want to stay Jeep), but not as civilized as the KK is. It's more "rugged" and not as insulated. Ride is actually on par especially for a solid axle rig too.
