 Post subject: heat shield wrapping the turbo down pipe

good idea, bad idea? I have a feeling this is the source of the cps frequent failure. I did a search but didn't see much on the subject.

thinking of using this around the pipe in the area of the cps unit.
any thoughts ?

I just did this after my rebuild, seems to be holding up so far, only 1800 miles though. I figure if I can keep the heat away from the sensors the better off I am

Ive thought about doing it and did some reasearch. Then decided not to.
The header wrap does a good job of insulatung the heat, but almost too good. Becuase the xhaust pipes cant shed heat quickly they corrode and degrade quicker.
Ceramic coating are better.

The crank sensor is already behind a heat shield.
I think some sensors are just crap.
Ive got 190k miles and have never had a crank sensor problem.
But, now that Ive said that... :roll:

Good point, guess I should have installed the 10mm thick heat shield woven cloth , good to 1400 degrees and 2000 in radiant heat before I put the shield back on.
