Was there ever an updated engine oil dipstick/part number to correctly display the engine oil level? Or did they just tell you to "scribe a new mark"?

Seems pretty simple but I didn't know if they ever fixxed the issue correctly

the note in the system said to just scribe the dipstick after a oil change where you used the correct 6.4qts of oil

Ha yea I know wishful thinking but, if the dipstick is so crappy at reporting correct levels, what's to prevent someone from checking the oil say 1800 miles down the road and wondering if there is any oil at all in the dipstick etc. From what I read you're suppose to scribe the new line which could be at the LOW mark and actually be Full. Seems like a lot of second guessing an potential disaster

Frankly I've never worried about it much but if you want to check the dipstick:
1. change your oil and filter - full fill is 6.4 qts with stock size filter or 7 qts with oversize filter.
2. do a bit of a drive to a) fill the filter and b) warm the oil up a bit.
3. park on a dead flat level surface
4. wait like 10 minutes for oil to drain down as some of the passages from the upper end are small
5. check where the full fill is and if need be mark the dip stick. I'd suggest using a small triangular file to put a slight notch in the edge of the dipstick and/or to scribe a line. Mark the full line and measure down the stick the distance between the factory marks and mark a new low line.

FYI the apparent level of the coolant in the tank on the firewall and the oil in the pan both are very sensitive to whether or not the surface you are parked on is level. If I check either level in my driveway with a very slight up slope and with nose of the vehicle "up" then both of those levels appear low but if I drift down to the flat at the end of the drive those levels are fine.
