Something im a bit confused about with the CRD is how the front end is different from the gas model. I read the front diff sits slightly lower then the gas model. I Havent read anything else different but i see a lot of evidence emplying that the front CVs are shorter. But how does that translate to less CV clearance with the suspebtion ckevis?

By Front End, You mean the drive axle? differential? wholedarnthing?

Your best bet would probably be Gypsy62.

He recently swapped front axles between them.

As far as I know, both the crd and the 3.7 use the same cradle. That the part that holds the front diff and supports everything above it.
But the crd front diff mounts are different and shift the front diff a bit to the drivers side. Making the drivers side cv axle shorter and the passenger side cv axle longer.

Because of that shift, the drivers side inner cv joint is closer to the clevis and too much lift will cause the cv boot to rub against the clevis and eventualy tear open.

I was refering to any difference the CRD front end has to the gasser. The posted link doesnt clarify much.

Because of the heavier 2.8 L CRD, the 2005-2006 CRD Libbys have heavier front springs compared to the 3.7 L gassers.
