^ Hiya Geordi! Happy New Years!
6.4quarts = 6.06Liters
I think you may be onto something.....
my EGR is disabled (unplugged) and the ports are shimmed (blocked off) .
If the oil is casually working its way OUT of the turbo and then into the exhaust , then that would explain the very light oil smell in my exhaust when climbing BC Canada mountain roads....
I know the rings are not worn, the mechanic that did all the work when my rockers fugged up last year (year before? cant remember) did a compression test and it still had very very high factory compression. (dont have the numbers handy,will need to get ahold of Pawliks Auto)

Next oil change make sure of these :
- warm up the engine
- check the oil level on the dipstick before dropping the oil
- make sure you'r on level surface
- open the filling cap before taking the drain plug and the oil filter (no need to drain overnight...)
- once you have the new filter and 5.5 liter of fresh oil in, run the engine turn it off and let it sit a few minute before adjusting the level to the mark it was before.
Then do your math and if it still a good differance before and after, there's something is wrong !
ran the truck for three hours (spirited driving , 100 - 120KM's on the freeway) then let it sit for a bit and checked the dipper stick. At Max. Then i drained it.Oil cap removed, filter removed (and cut open and drained). Parking surface was dead level concrete floor underground parking lot.

After you change it, Do you start it for a little bit then let it sit and check it again?
yes.
my measurements were from the used oil that drained out...i was only able to fill a Mobil1 TDT oil jug (4.4 liters , 4.8 right to the top) and there was just a little left over in the plastic drain pan.
Going to scope the dipper tubeand see if there is a blockage perhaps.....perhaps there is a pool of oil in the dipper tube and everytme i check it it shows the same amount....
